  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm sure they'll sell you one now. The delivery date however won't be any sooner than any other Hyundai dealer.

Dealer can put 2012 as well, doesn't mean they have one. "Starting at $33,000" while showing a 2009 model.

I tried all 3 sites listed above and none of them have any 2011 Genesis in stock according to their Inventory Search (they all use the same software obviouisly provided by Hyundai). After going to the link, click on the "Models" tab (next to "Overview").

The last dealer Appleton, WI only has 2009 models in stock (three of them).

The 2011 v6's are in. Saw them at San Jose yesterday. Hate the new wheels!

Anyone have a picture of these new wheels?

scb's link to the the dealer in Dallas above has pics. V6 premium wheels are not so good looking. The V8 tech wheels are different, but pics are not real clear on those.

So far (up until 2010 model anyway), the best looking wheels by far have been on the base Genesis model.

Sorry, either I messed up the URL for one of the sites or they pulled the stock numbers. Look at this one.

Just to be sure the screen shots are attached. Still doesn't mean that they have stock, I agree.
You are right, it could just mean that the distributor has given them the VIN numbers for their allocation, but they are not at dealership yet, or maybe not even in the USA yet. I found another Dallas area dealer who had them also on their webpage.

But who knows, maybe they do have them? A simple phone call would clear that up.

Saw a V6 at the local San Diego dealer today. Went with a friend who is looking for a remaining 2010 and we were surprised to see a 2011.

Looking at the V8 version 2011 model in the link you posted but it says "4.6 Liter with ZF 6-spd transmission which is incorrect. I thought the 2011 Genesis Sedan V8 comes with a 5 liter engine and 8-spd transmission no?

It looks as if the website has put up 2010 spec and changed the title as 2010?

You won't see a 5L in the Genesis for 2011. It will still have the 6 speed ZF tranny, and the 4.6L.

From the articles I have read it said the 5 liter w/ 8-spd will be equipped on the 2011 model Genesis with V8 version. Is it 2012 model then??

"No official word from the South Korean automaker yet, but this new direct-injection 5.0 in sure to be fitted to the Genesis Sedan for 2011, reportedly backed by a new eight-speed automatic transmission developed by Hyundai. Chances are it will eventually find its way under the hood of the Genesis Coupe, possibly backed by a proper stick. Hyundai is apparently launching the Equus with the 4.6-liter Tau, but the new flagship sedan will get the upgraded mill soon after, right about the time the upgraded 2011 Genesis Sedan appears. The output figures being reported are 429 hp at 6,500 rpm and 376 pound-feet of torque at 5,000 rpm, with an 11.5:1 compression ratio – a healthy jump above the 385 hp, 333 ft-lb for the 4.6 liter V8 currently found in the Genesis Sedan."

"According to our sources in South Korea, Hyundai is developing a new 5.0-liter V-8 Tau variant that will see duty in both the upcoming flagship Equus sedan as well as revamped version of the current Genesis sedan. With 429 horsepower and 376 pound-feet of torque, the new engine's output is impressive to say the least.

The new engine is expected to arrive in early 2011 in the 2012 models, replacing the current 375-horsepower 4.6-liter V-8, which will no longer be offered."

There is not word when or even if a 5L and 8 speed tranny get put into the car. I'm sure eventually, but as of right now, it's just a rumor, according to John Krafcik CEO Hyundai north america.

I'll take the 5L, but stick with the 6 Speed auto if I had a choice. 8 speed tranny's are no fun when driving "spirited" due to the tranny constantly shifting gears and acting confused.

I'm sure the computer will be smart enough so that it won't shift constantly and get itself confused.. The benefit of having extra gears is for faster acceleration and better fuel economy. I forecast that the 0-60 will be improved significantly as well. The current 6-spd Genesis Sedan 1st gear is pretty damn tall and with that 4000 lb weight it can't take off like rocket from dig. The car is in dare need for shorter gearing. Roll speed acceleration can also be improved if Hyundai geared them right. You can also use Sport mode to shift or hold the gears longer if you want to. Of course I require a good test drive before getting one and need to review the gear ratios.

You have obviously been drinking the cool-aid of the automotive press trying to predict if and when a 5L Tau and 8-speed transmission will be available on the Genesis. There has been absolutely no official word on this, and it is sheer speculation as to if and when it may happen.

One of the potential issues with the 8-speed is that it is rumored to be a new Hyundai design, whereas the 6-speed is a proven design from ZF. If you still prefer the 8-speed, then you are drinking some serious cool-aid. Main reason for an 8-speed is better gas mileage to meet CAFE targets, not better performance. If you want better mileage, get the V6.

Read the previous post I posted in page 1. The second article mentions 2012 model, though it's not definitive. But it is certainly likely to come just not right now.

How do you know it's not for better performance? Have you driven it? It's not out yet. Are you guessing?

Also, if you think more gears only mean better fuel economy then you YOU are definitely drinking too much cool-aid. It also indicates you have no understanding in gearing and how it affects performance.:o

If you want better mileage, get the V6.
No thanks. I don't care for better mileage. I want better performance.

Anyways, don't try to justify for what you have bought. You want everyone else to buy V6 version because that is what you own... nice try. Nope that won't work.:D

The http://hmaservice.com/ site has the Genesis 2011 service manuals posted. The manuals listed 4.6 with six speed tranny, 3.8 and 3.3 engines for 2011 model year
