  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi folks,

Was looking for a thread we could discuss all the findings about the Genesis (or other Hyundai related stuff) that we come across at this year's NY Auto Show - didn't see one under the "News" thread.

Anywho... so far, one disappointing thing is that the 2012 Accent details have ALL been announced, including Pricing - and this is still not yet released for the 2012 Genesis sedan. Hrrrmmmph.

One bit of good news for those of us who THINK our brand new Hyundai models might be updated in the next 4 years:

That's a guaranteed minimum trade in value for any new Hyundai traded in between months 24 and 48. :)

NOW YOU'RE TALKING, HYUNDAI! They put Blue Link in the 2013 Genny? Trade in! Maybe they finally release that all-important AWD for us Northeast folk? Trade in! 5.0 in the GC? Trade in!

=====

Anyway... for those who go to the show, can you post pics and your findings here? I plan on doing so when I go, but unfortunately, it will only be towards the end of this particular year's show (the 30th).

I like the concept of guaranteed trade in value. Makes the anticipated purchase a little less risky. Looking forward to the show on Friday. Don't know what Hyundai is waiting for regarding announcement of the release date.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Regarding the 2012 Genesis release date, pricing, etc., they're probably getting resistance from dealers who have a bunch of 2011's sitting in their lots.

Here's one of the catches:

At time of trade-in, the customer must show proof of vehicle maintenance at the recommended intervals through authorized Hyundai dealerships

Memo says for cars bought after May 2011. To bad, I have a 2010 and would have used this program.

You could always look up the current "guaranteed trade-in values" when the plan IS in effect, and use it as a starting point for your bargaining. Who knows... the dealer might just wanna get you into a new car, and what do you have to lose?

And by the way... who's to say they're not lowballing these figures from the get-go?

;)

I don't trade-in but it does look like a good deal for people that have others do all the work on their car and trade-in often.

I have a bad feeling I was right about the Genesis' availability at the Auto Show:

0:32 to 0:47 - Looks like a locked R spec, though I think it's a Titanium instead of the Platinum we've seen before.

:(

I will let you know. If it is locked and if there is a rep present, I will ask to have it opened.

HA.. Then Im GOLDEN then. All my service has been done by Hyundai and very well documented in my log book and HMA's computer system. I should hope to get premium $$$$$'s for my 09 when I go to trade it in.

Its only on new vehicles purchased on or after May 1, 2011. Sorry but your 2009 is not included.

Ah... my fears were for naught!

My boss went to the show today, and texted me the following:

Cannot wait to see it in person. Hopefully the kiddies won't trash it 'till then.

I was also there today. Rep told me car will not be available until mid summer. The interior appears to be almost charcoal grey but is called jet black. Had a lot of lookers for sure.

LOL, been waiting for you to describe it on here, Tom! That's all you got!??!??!

Oo

On a related topic, just got home from my brother's house, and in the mail was an envelope from HMA. Inside, a letter from Hyundai Think Tank and two Exhibitor/Industry guest passes!

:) :) :) :) :)

Here's the jist:

"Dear valued Hyundai Think Tank Member,

Please join us as our guest for the 2011 New York International Auto Show at the Jacob Javitz Center in New York City Saturday April 23rd through Sunday May 1st.

Come see all that Hyunday has to offer, including the all new 2012 Hyundai Accent 4 door and 5 door models, and Hyundai Blue Link, a smart new in-vehicle technology that actually simplifies your life.

Enclosed are tickets for you and a guest to attend the show. Please be sure to stop by the Hyundai booth and identify yourself as a Hyundai Think Tanker to a product specialist standing near the new Hyundai Sonata Hybrid or Hyundai Veloster. You'll have an opportunity to try out some of the exciting new Blue Link features, and take a short survey sharing your opinions. Please bring this letter with you and show it to the Hyundai Product Specialist - as a token of our appreciation, you'll receive a special gift for completing the survey.

We will see you at the show!

Sincerely,

Hyundai Motor America/Hyundai Think Tank"

I am even MORE pumped about the show now! Thanks Hyundai! I am very excited not only about the products this company has been dishing out, but also the fact that they are truly attentive to its customer's feedback.

:)

The car is exactly as has been described in releases. Fit and finish is excellent and seats were very comfortable. Trunk space is very good and adequate space in rear seat. Mirrors do fold back as has been reported. I like the black shadow treatment on wheels. Tires were Michelin Sport. Only disappointment was availability. I wish the trunk would pop when hit the release but it does not. No real surprises.

Went to the NY Auto show today. A zoo. Don't go evenings or weekends.2012 Genesis was displayed. Frankly, exterior changes for 2012 are no big deal. Non Genesis owners would be hard pressed to tell the difference. Lots of Sonatas and Elantras but no 2012 Azera, which was disappointing.

Any other competing cars get your attention?
