  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Went to my dealer today, and they have a 2011 Sonata LTD with Navi in stock. What I had not known was that you can identify the LTD as it has an all chrome grill. The others have painted grills.

Was surprised that this loaded 2011 Sonata is priced at $28k and change.

I have an appointment to get a TSB (10-BE-002) done on my Genesis on Wednesday, day after tomorrow, so while I'm there, I think I will take a 2011 Sonata out for a test ride. Don't know which model I'll take, but I don't want to take a Sport, as I want the standard suspension. Don't think I will like a Four Cylinder engine, no matter how good it is, but I'll give it a try.

Lastly, the 2011 Sonatas are "flying" off the dealers lots around here. I talk with two friends, one at Jenkins Hyundai Leesburg, and one at Orlando Hyundai, and whenever I'm there, I see people taking delivery of 2011 Sonatas, and they both tell me that the 2011 is selling like hotcakes.

Selling as it should. I agree though, $28k seems a bit high to me.

Pricing seems fine to me, especially since the Sonata delivers class-leading levels of feature content, fuel economy, and power (4 cylinder mid-size family sedans).

Depends on actual selling price. One can get a base Genesis for close to $30K. Buy a top model Garmin GPS for $300 and you will be all set.

At my Hyundai Dealer at the moment, having just returned from test driving a 2011 Sonata. Wow. I"M IMPRESSED. Did not want to test the Limited with the Navi unit, as I was afraid I would buy it (for my wife) on the spot if I liked it. Drove a base GLS, just to see if I liked the way it drives, and the suspension. Thought about trying an SE with the stiffer suspension, but my Genesis has a stiff suspension, and I wanted the standard suspension. (Dealer is sold out of SE's at the moment). The 4 cylinder Sonata has plenty of power and drove great. Plenty enough pick up for my wife, although I could use more. This car was Pearl White, and with the standard GLS Grill, the white looks GREAT. Grill is same color as car with the GLS. Both the SE and Limited have Chrome grills.

Only two things I did not like, or perhaps I should say, concerns.
1. The shift gate for the manual operation of the automatic is to the left of the automatic operation, vice the right as in the Genesis. I tend to drive with my hand on the shift lever, and with the Genesis, the shifter lever stays in the automatic position, but with the Sonata, I kept pulling it into the manual position by mistake. .
2. I could hear/feel the transmission shifting gear to gear, which is not bad, however I did not hear it go into 6th, so----- I switched to manual mode, and yes, there is a 6th gear, but in automatic mode, at 60 mph, it was always in
5th. Did not have a chance to get it up faster than 60mph, but I assume eventually it would go into 6th.

One neat thing, although really not needed, was a little green light that comes on when you are driving in economy mode. That is, when leaving a stop, the light is off, but once you ease off the gas, the light comes on. I guess this is to tell you to ease off the gas.

BTW, the ride was good, Perhaps I should try the SE (Sport) at a later date. Right now, my dealer is all sold out of the SE. Flying off the lot. He has a few GLS's and two Limited's, but no SE's.

FYI the ECO indicator can be turned off.
