  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Were there any changes to the shocks/struts/spring rates for 2011?? I have read that you can minimize some of the harsh ride by going to a different tire like Michlins.

Maybe the people around here are really used to extremely light\floaty cars, but I've road in the Genesis twice, once in the 2009 and once in the 2011 and they felt just as "harsh" as anything else I've driven or less. I guess it's a older stereotype for having really smooth and floaty cars, but I've driven in much harsher cars and I can tolerate the Genesis with absolutely no complaint, so...

If it improves even moreso for 2011 or 2012, that'll just be even better either way.

If there were any, I didn't notice them. I test drove a 2011 Genny at my dealer today while he was doing an oil change. Felt just like my 2009 Genny.

After 7500 miles of rock and roll I changed tires to new Michelins $824 buck that Hyundai
should have but on in the first place . WOW the difference is really NIGHT & DAY
easier steering ,Quit ride, smooths out those bumps ,This is the way to go !!!!!

Agree, some of the firm ride comes from the Dunflops. I now have Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires w rated and the car rides better, handles better, much better in rain, and is quieter.

I'm looking to the 2012 to fix the ride issue. I've read that the suspension has been reworked for all of the new Genesis versions (Hyundai listened to the complaints about the ride.) I'm hoping that the new set up (spring rate, shock stiffness or whatever) can be easily added to the present Genesis...for me the ride just doesn't work. I've test drove other cars with the idea of trading the Genesis but the financial loss is even rougher than the ride!

Hey, I'm considering a Genesis late this year when my lease is up for my current car. Just wondering if anyone knows how the ride of the genesis 2011 relates to 2008 Infiniti G35 Sedan with sport package?

I've seen a lot of complaints on here stating that the ride is excessively harsh. I'm just wondering how it would compare to the ride of my current car. Most of the things I see on here seems to be what id expect to be typical of a sports leaning sedan.

Anyway if anyone has driven a G35 2008 would love to know how you think its ride compares to a Genesis

I'm looking for a QUIET, tire to replace my Dunlops. There seems to be more road noise every day. I had a 2011 loaner the last time I took mine in for service and it was much quieter. I live in a climate where I don't need winter tires. If we do happen to get a little snow, I just don't drive. (I'm retired and don't have to). Which Michelins did you get?

I own a 2007 G35X and a 2011 Genesis 3.8 with tech. package. They are quite different in their ride attitudes. The G is like what I to refer to as a “Sport Luxury Sedan” and the Genesis is a “Luxury Sport Sedan ” that distinction while not seemingly much different is quite pronounced for me. Now I know at this point I’ll probably get some negative if not obnoxious remarks about my point of view and I understand what a difference of opinion means. And yes I have driven both the V8 and the V6. Still I stand by my opinion. My G is as far as handling is concerned the closest thing to defying the laws of physics that I’ve driven It’s power of adhesion is remarkable that’s the allure it holds for me. Its ride is one geared toward those means. While not overly harsh it certainly does not approach the ride quality of the Genesis. Indeed the Genesis achieves this mix of handling and ride beautifully. I love the ride of my Genesis and it handles quite admirably. I am very happy with this car.

Thanks for the insight... seriously considering the 2012 Genesis when my lease ends in Dec

I just put new Michelin tires 17'' and the car feels and rides like Bentley i'm not kidding it made all the difference in the world Shame on Hyundai for not putting on a premium tires in the first place it would stop all this ride conversations
