  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Has anybody experienced problems with the Parking Assist (proximity alarm) on a 2012 Genny? The past few months, a problem has cropped up where the proximity alarm will start going off for no reason (either engaged or not engaged). I've done the usual stuff (cleaned the bumpers, etc) and reset the battery...but it just beeps whenever it wants to. At stop lights (with nothing in front of me or to the side), etc. And it does it like, every other time I start the car. Like it resets once, then malfunctions. THen we get to where we are going, and after we get back into the car, it works OK. Until then next time I start the car...and so forth. It's kind of annoying, and when it's working and in engaged position, it just alerts for no reason...

Guess I gotta make a trip to the dealer to fix it.....

Yep. Just had it fixed on mine. They have to pull the front bumper, and replace the front sensors. The trick is to get it to misbehave when the service writer and/or the tech guy is watching, and pull codes on it. It took me a few tries, but it was getting progressively worse, to the point where if I was going slower than the cutoff, about 5mph, it would start beeping non-stop. Very annoying. They had the car for the day, and provided me a loaner.

Thanks for the the information! I'll schedule an appointment. Getting to misbehave isn't a real problem. It seems to malfunction every other time we drive the car (start it up).

much appreciated!

I am having mine serviced/inspected for this tomorrow.
Hopefully they'll deal with it under warranty, as the car has 96000kms..

Took an hour or two. The thing was generating errors so they ordered the parts...hopefully will be replaced soon as its driving me mad in city traffic.

Well they could NOT get the problem to recur during the stay at the shop. But afterwards, it's done it a few times....very frustrating.

Im sorry man. Must be troubling...since my visit to the shop i have been waiting for the dealership to call me in to replace the faulty sensor....horrible service. Will call them tomorrow. ..

Had the exact same problem. It gradually got worse, to the point were the tech had no problem duplicating the problem. Then got it fixed under warranty.
