  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Well, after much deliberation I decided to pull the trigger on one of the last remaining 5.0 Ultimates for sale in our area. I've been watching to see if the prices would drop much more, but one by one, the new 2015's were disappearing from the listings. Followup calls to the dealerships confirmed, they were indeed selling.

In Canada, the 2016's were not as plentiful as the 2015's. Not sure if Hyundai was shorting orders or if the dealers just weren't ordering as many. Given that Canada will NOT be selling ANY Genesis G80 or G90 models in ANY dealerships in 2017 got me thinking that this car would probably never have a better time to buy than right now. For Canada, the only way to purchase a Genesis is direct through the internet with "value" one price pricing (another way to say - no negotiated discounts). Not sure just how well that's going to work…

Bottom line, got a pretty good deal on a White 5.0 AWD Ultimate with black interior (my third white Genesis) and a fair trade on my 2012. Not as good a deal as I got on my 2012, but it was also a year old new car when purchased. Hyundai 2.4% financing also helped!

So far, absolutely thrilled with the 2nd gen and glad I made the move!:)

Welcome to the club!! I also just purchased my third Genesis last week (second white one) and it is also a 5.0 Ultimate. I followed the same thought process as you described above with respect to this being a good time to grab one of the last remaining Genny's before the G80 makes it's debut here in Canada. I had been holding out for a 3.8 V6 with the ultimate package but don't know if that will ever happen here in the Great White North, so I went for the 5.0. What a spectacular upgrade from the first generation models. I love almost everything about this car, especially the HUD. Although at the rate the audio quality is being downgraded, by the time the G3 comes out it won't sound any better than the one speaker AM radio in my first car many years ago (1965 Chevy Malibu). Hopefully they'll turn that trend around 'cuz I sure do miss the sound from my 2009 Genesis system.

I too have been wondering how the internet direct one price pricing thing is going to work. Given the amount of negotiating room there has always been on these vehicles, I'm not sure that they can suddenly put them out there at the same MSRP with no negotiation. I expect they may try it and claim that the extras - like shop at home (they bring the demo car to you), pick up and delivery for service calls etc., being worth the difference. The alternative is to put the car on the market at thousands of $$ less than the 2015 MSRP and tick off people who paid close(r) to retail when the G2 first came out two years ago. I'm not too sure that I want to see my car disappearing around the corner as some "twenty-something" kid drives it to the service centre (via an unknown route) even if he did leave me an Accent to drive in the meantime.

I guess time will tell on how things work out here in Canada. Hopefully they've thought this through and have a workable plan for marketing the car here. I've been saying for the last eight years that while Hyundai Korea is building a fantastic car in the Genesis, my experience with Hyundai Canada and the dealerships has been a disaster. I'm on my third Genesis DESPITE the Hyundai experience NOT because of it.

Now excuse me, I NEED to go for a drive somewhere - anywhere...

Pics....or it didn't happen.

Oh, it happened… see!

Mine happened too. Just took a couple of quick iPhone shots - I won't be competing with you Dareck, I've seen some of your pictures on other threads and can't begin to keep up. Now I just have to figure out how to post them. Standby for further...

Well I managed to at least get thumbnails posted. Will work on getting better photos and posting them in full size.

The rear photo is just having a bit of fun showing off the HTRAC beside the 5.0. On the other hand, here in Canada we don't get BlueLink, Sirius XM Weather, Hyundai Apps, etc., etc.

Congrats. Love the White combo. I apologize for my lack of knowledge of what is available but is yours 5.0 and H Trac? Are they only available in Canada? Wish they had them here.

Congrats!!! I love the color choice and gotta have the 5.0

Yeah, we don't get any RWD 2015+ Genesis sedans here. Every one of them is AWD

Yes, for the first time in automobile history Canada gets something the USA doesn't! Each of the 3 V6 sedans and the 5.0 V8 are only available in H-Track AWD. Not sure why because we all know that many of your states have nasty weather just like here in Southern Ontario. I'm sure Hyundai will correct that one in the near future. Even in the rain it sure is nice to know all four tires are pulling for you!

a 5.0 AWD? sweet

Yeah, I didn't really think I wanted or needed the 5.0, but did want the DIS and 17 speaker audio system that used to be in the 3.8 Technology package. With the G2, the only way to get those things (in Canada) is to go with the 5.0. Now that I've pulled the trigger on the 5.0, I realize that I was only half right. I don't need the 5.0 but I definitely want it. :D :D

I can't get over how much better (more) car this is than the G1 (IMHO). The AWD really does seem to help with the steering/handling although I haven't had a chance to really test it on seriously wet roads yet, but have definitely pushed this car harder than either of my G1 models and had nothing but fun doing it.:D

Congratulations new 2G Genesis owners! I see you both like white - like me. I have a white 2015 V6 Signature that I'm quite happy with. :) Welcome to the club!
