  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

After many new cars, 2008 CTS, 2010 Genesis, 2011 MK, finally found a car that makes me proud to drive.
The only problem so far is.

When parking, and is front is over concrete parking barrier, front drops down after getting out and has to be dragged over barrier, will not raise up by using the vehicle height control button, after dragging off you have to restart the car other wise it is riding on the snubber.

Center display is very dim in the sunlight can not see the parking sensors and also the sound is so low it is easily missed.

Vehicle is in the shop to see what can be done.

Other than that its is a great car, do miss it, while in the shop I have a basic genesis loaner.

Congratulations on your Equus! I love mine as well. Last weekend I got caught on a concrete bunker in a parking lot and it scraped a little when I left. Until you posted I could not figure how that happened. I will now be more mindful of how the car lowers itself when shut off.

I share your concern about the low volume. One can adjust the volume on the nav system but not the warning. If you find a way please let me know.

As far as center display in sunlight: I noticed that as well until I tinted the windows - that has made it significantly better - not perfect, but better. Youc an check out the pix I posted in an earlier post.

So, what color is yours? Pic?:welcome:

Yes, your Equus does raise up on starting. But if you park over a barrier and the car comes down and rests on it and does not get all the way down it will not reset when started, you have to drag it off the barrier and turn of the engine and restart then it will come back to normal. You can try it on a barrier but will have the same results I did.

I stand corrected!

Will never try it!

Thanks

According to Hyundai, they are supposed to give you a Equus Loaner.
Is that guaranteed somewhere? Doesn't seem feasible that they will always have one available for every customer.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Is anything ever "guaranteed"? It says on their website that they will deliver a loaner when they come to pick up your Equus.

You obviously don't read much.

I read the link you provided and it says they will provide a "Courtesy Replacement Vehicle." Doesn't say the loaner will be an Equus.

Hmmmm these cars do have distance sensors in front and rear! You should hear audiable and see visual distance alarms on your dash way before pre-bumping any curbs. But if your that "curb perturbed" maybe you should of got the ultimate with the forward camera in addition to the forward sensors, or better yet have someone else drive you... lol

The audible sensors are not very audible. I can barely hear mine. If I have the radio up at all forget it. I first thought mine did not work at all when I nearly backed into a neighbor's car. I then turned the radio off and I could hear it. So I now turn the radio way down when parking.

Can someone tell me how long does it take for the Equus to raise to the high setting upon starting if you had previously set it at "high" before shutting down the engine?

I am not sure mine (2013) lowers when the engine is turned off. I will pay attention next time. On more than one occasion I have pushed the button to raise it only to have it lower. In other words it was already raised and I did not realize it. When I push the button again it only takes a couple of seconds to raise. You need something directly in front of you as a reference point to be able to see it raise or lower. If it does lower when the engine is turned off and raise again after it is turned on I have never noticed it.

Ok, I have just checked mine. It does not lower itself wehn the engine is turned off. I raised it and turned the engine off for more than fifteen minutes and then turned the engine on and it was still in the raised position.

Thanks for checking. I've read someone's posting on this forum that his Equus (don't remember what year) did lower itself in his garage after engine off while he was working in the garage. I think in this case, the lowing happened quite some time after engine off although I don't remember how long. You waited 15 minutes and it stayed up. I'm interested in finding out (especially for 2013 model) if the car stays up till the next day if you leave it in "high" setting before shutting off the engine, or if it does lower itself with the engine off overnight, how soon does it raise once you start the engine the next morning. This is because I have a steep driveway and need to have higher ground clearance to back my car out in the morning. I've also read that it might take more than 4-5 minutes to change the height setting and that's too long to wait when I need to get out of my driveway. I'm considering buying an Equus.

I own a 2012 Equus Signature and always have height set at the highest point. As soon as I turn off the car and get out of the car the car lowers automatically. Once I return and start the car again the car raises to my setting.. By the time i buckle up and change the radio station the car has been highered....

Checked it early this morning; unfortunately the windshield was fogged up. When I started it I don't think it raised itself but I am not 100% sure because I could not see very well. If it did raise (I don't think it did) it was before the wipers could clear the window.

I then waited two hours and forty minutes and it was still in the raised position.

So, the answer seems to be that the 2013 models stay in the raised position and earlier models do not. Or if the 2013 models do lower over time (more than 2 hours forty minutes) they raise instantly when started.

I will try to remember to check again tomorrow and clear the window first.

Note that the manual says it will automatically lower when a certain speed is reached (I think is 42.5 mph) so you might have to remamber to raise it before you enter your driveway.

Thanks to both who responded. I'll keep reading.
