2012 Gen. Maintenance 60k coming up

Hey,

I had some questions regarding services coming up and how much you believe each one should cost. According to the manual it shows I need the spark plugs replaced, I have read people doing this at 100k, is it necessary at 60k? Also replacing the automatic transmission fluid at 60k, how much should this cost and is it necessary at 60k?

Also the fuel tank air filter? Have you guys replaced them at 60k?

What manual are you looking at? The Owner's Manual says 100K for plugs, and transmission fluid is either 100K or lifetime (depending on which model year). There is a separate schedule for "severe service" but that usually does not need to be followed unless you mainly drive in those conditions (not occasionally drive).

If you are looking at something from the dealer, throw that in the trash and read the official Owners Manual.

If you do get your transmission fluid changed, only take it to a Hyundai dealer. It will cost a lot of money (maybe $400 -$500), but a non-dealer may end up ruining your transmission, as it requires a special fluid (that is very expensive) and is not easy to drain.

Fuel tank filter change interval is controversial, and some dealers say to not do it (they don't want to mess with it).

I have just bought a 2013 3.8L Sedan with just under 65K miles on it. According to the service schedule, it say "No check, No service required." Does this mean I'm okay for now? The car runs great!

Jerry, unless you have the complete service records for your previously used car, you need to check out EVERYTHING. Wouldn't it be foolish to ASSUME that the prior owner(s) did the necessary maintenance items when needed?
