Saw new 2012 Genesis at the dealer yesterday:
Some 2012 Genesis Sedans come with
Michelin Energy Saver A/S

3.8 base - Dunlops w new rim style
3.8 Premium - Michelins (w 4.6 rims style)
3.8 Tech - Michelins (w 4.6 rim style)
4.6 - Not sure none on the Lot
5.0 - I heard Michelin PS2's w/ Bridgestone S-04 as a 1400 option (245/45/19)

Good detective work.

That blows the theory posted by someone else that they reason they switched to Michelin is because they get them cheaper than the Dunlops.

If you go back and read my post I never said that Hyundai made the switch to Michelin because they got the Michelins cheaper than the Dunlop's. My question to you was how do you know that Hyundai is paying Michelin more for their tire than they paid for the Dunlop's. Now this post does not prove anything as it sends you to Tire Rack which shows the Michelin Tire costing more than the Dunlop's to the general public. It does not tell you and it can not tell you what the deal was between Michelin and Hyundai.
My whole point has been that Hyundai put the Michelin Energy saver A/S on the 2012 Genesis with 18" wheels because it is a softer riding tire than
the Dunlop Sport 5000M Ultra High Performance Tire. Now here is an interesting fact for you, Dunlop does not make a Grand Touring Tire or Passenger Tire
in a 235-50-18 97V which is a softer riding tire than a Ultra High Performance Tire.

I certainly agree that Hyundai is using the Michelin because they have a more comfortable ride than the Dunlop.

However, it is contrary to reason [praeter rationem] to suppose that Hyundai would keep the Dunlops on the base V6, even if the Michelins are cheaper for them to use.

I am speaking only about the 18" wheel. Dunlop does not make a Grand Touring or Passenger Tire which is a softer riding tire in size 235-50-18 97V

Your logic escapes me, but maybe we have given this subject more space than it deserves.

It is not uncommon for a car manufacture to use several different tire companies. I can not tell you why Hyundai kept Dunlop's on the base V6 but than again do we always understand the logic of car manufactures.
Maybe we have given this subject more space than it deserves.
