  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 Genesis Photos - Finally some legit, clear shots

I love the new front especially the foglight placement. I absolutely hate the back though. Taillights look worse than the previous generation.

The new 5.0L V8 should be a beast. :D

I know it would be nearly impossible to provide an unbiased opinion considering that I just bought a 2011 about four months ago, but the very best I can do is to say that I dislike every one of the changes I'm able to perceive based on these photos.

The back is kind of ugly compared to the current Genesis. Glad I am waiting because the refresh will definitely drop prices of the older Genesis. I should be able to get a 2009 or 2010 with tech pack and 30k miles for around $20000 hopefully.

Thats what they call a facelift? the 2010 to the 2011 Sonata is a facelift. I like the rear of the older Genesis better. Either way, they can have it. These cars dont hold their value for crap. Im trying to get rid of mine and they are not worth much more over $23,000. Its funny that a car that list for over $36K looses that much value in less than 2 years. Welcome to Hyundai.

Well it holds its value better than most ie. BMW, Cadillac, VW and Acura TL.

I would'nt buy any of those anyway.
I usually get a new Hyundai every couple years( have had 6). I never lose that much money because I buy them as cheap as possible, keep them 2 years and as new as possible, and sell them private party. I kinda knew when I spent over $30K on a Hyundai I would have issues on the resale.

Uh, the TL has better resale than any of those. Tl 5 stars, Genesis 3 stars, https://www.alg.com/DepreciationRatings

A 2009 TL with 36000 miles and tech pkg compared to a 2009 Genesis 36000 miles with tech pkg... the TL is worth about 1000.00 less in trade according to NADA. Also the TL had a much higher original price. Plug in the numbers on the NADA site and check it out.

Don't know what NADA is but KBB has 3.8 w/tech as described (excellent), private party at $25,665. TL FWD/tech $28,240 with same values. Not trying to cause troubles. May still buy a Genesis. I like the car a lot but I don't see a Genesis having the resale of an Acura nor do I think the public is as branded by the reliablility, ect of a Genesis like they are a TL.

Not crazy about the rear end treatment- and the side rocker panels look totally bolt-on after market. Wanna see inside. I think the 2009-11 look more upscale.

Those are the 19" wheels I've been talking about.
Loved them. Gives the Genesis a sportier look.
Headlights and tails seem to be a direct replacement. No sheet metal changes.
Bumper covers, trims, and lights are new.
Not feeling the rear tail, but the headlights look nice. Probably just because it's different from what I've been seeing. If those have LED DRLs, I'm getting them. :)

The test vehicle I saw had the exact same interior with the faux wood interior trims.
No changes except the shift-by-wire shifter. (Joystick-type)

I really hope they put LEDs around the headlights. I can't imagine them not doing it since the nicely redesigned but lesser Azera has an LED headlamp treatment. Either way, I will be getting one as soon as its available here in Atlanta. My Infiniti I35 will have to endure a little longer. Anyone have a true life example of what a 2011, 4.6 Tech is leasing for these days?

That is absolutely normal dpereciation and better than some. I believe you will find that the $23,000 is the "trade-in" value. Private sale and retail is considerably higher. I am sorry you do not like your Genesis, but, I think you would be hard pressed to find another luxury vehicle that does that much better.

I know what KBB and NADA say the Genesis is worth. Try and get that much. I have seen nice 09 Tech Genesis on the dealers lot for $25K. According to KBB they should be over $30K. They dont even bring book value.

I don't know about you lot... but if I pick up a Genesis, one of the main features FOR ME is the delicious warranty. And if I'm into a warranty like Hyundai's, then I'm PROBABLY looking to keep the car for a good long while, and not looking to replace it in a year or two, or even three.

But that's just me.

As for these pics, they just put the Genny back up on the #1 slot for my next purchase. I like the rear lights, the front treatment, and the overall "aggressive" look as compared to the current offering. The side skirts do look a bit too aftermarket for my taste, but I'm sure I won't mind them in the final product.

Someone else has said it... if they put some sweet LED's in those headlights, this car will just DESTROY in terms of looks. It already does in terms of performance and luxury and value.

Well done, Hyundai.

I agree on the LED comment. Gimme!!!!

By the way... look at the pic. I think I see LED's on the bottom of the headlight assembly! I clearly see three or four different "sections" on the very bottom... and I think I see LED effects in the fog lights as well.

Oh well... if they don't bump up the price on the V8 by more than a couple of grand, a silver, titanium, or black beauty will be in my garage by summer.

Im just hoping they add air suspension on the 2012.. I want the Equus ride on the Genesis and I would be a happy clam :) !!!
