  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The wife and I took a 6,000 mile spring trip this year and we noticed that the radar cruise control acts strangely on our car. It may be normal but thought I would ask the forum if you notice anything. We noticed that the car will slow down heading into any curve. If you set the cruise and are on a straight stretch the car maintains speed except to slow down for cars that are in front of you. However if you are on a curvy road the car maintains speed until you hit that curve and it slows down sometime 10 miles an hour. If you are making a climb and you hit that curve it gets worse. If you are set at 65 and hit a climbing curve, you notice your car only going around 50 until the road straightens. It drives me crazy and I cannot find a way to disengage the radar from the cruise. The wife's 2010 RX-450 allows you to turn off the radar and go back to normal cruise. I wish the Genesis had the same feature.

Any ideas?

Mine does this on sharper curves. Setting the follow distance to the minimum helps, but it never really stops. When I think it's gonna happen, I just put my foot on the accelerator.

IIRC, There are some other threads about this with an explanation as to why it happens.

My 5.0 does the same, but I suspect it has more to do with the ESC than with the cruise. Not sure.

Suspect it is picking up objects on the outside of the curve, my R-Sec does it as well.

You can step on the gas to override the adaptive cruise control. To reengage simply lift your foot of the pedal.

Mine does it too. I didn't think anything about it. I assumed it was a safety feature built into the cruise control system to limit the amount of g-force in a curve during cruise. I thought it was kind of cool.

I think you nailed it because I even noticed how it slows down after hitting some large bumps in the road. On my daily drive to work there is a series of 3 humps from frost heave on the main autoroute. The car is set to 119km/hr however after hitting the first bump the car slow to about 116 and stays there until the last bump then accelerates slowly back to 119. must be some kind of accelerometer built into the car for it to be able to do this.

There is a section on curves, cresting hills, approaching motor cycles etc in owners manual. Nothing on limited slip, but why not?
