  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Smart cruise control on my 2012 Genesis sedan works fine except for this one issue. If there is a large vehicle such as a semi, box truck or bigger SUV, etc. in the right lane ahead of me when I have the cruise control engaged, the sensor will decrease the speed just as if the vehicle ahead is in my lane. If I move over as far to the left in my lane as I can travel and still be in my lane, then it will not activate and decrease the speed and I can pass the vehicle in the right lane without issue. It does not seem to be affected by a regular size vehicle in the right lane or at least I haven't noticed it occurring. And it has not been affected by vehicles in the lane to the left of me. It also works fine for any vehicle I am approaching in the lane I am in. It seems to me that the sensor for the vehicle following distance needs to be centered to my driving lane more accurately. Does anyone know where this sensor is and how I would adjust it to center? Thank you.

It looks like it would have to be behind the opening at the bottom center of the front bumper, but I don't know that for certain.

Thank you for replying. I was having the front bumper cover replaced on my sedan so went by the body shop when they had the old cover off. Yes, just like you showed in your picture, there was the box on the front , but on mine it was actually on the lower front right. But the car had had work done on it before and there were two of the mounting bolts missing from it on the left side. So it was bent around to the right slightly from the bolts on that side and it was able to sway a bit since it was not secured on the left. Being angled to the right I am sure caused the issue I was experiencing. However, since I have gotten it out of the shop, the cruise control did not work when I tried it upon my first highway cruise. When they secured it on that left side, something has happened it would seem. So I may have been better off leaving it alone. I will see on successive attempts to use the cruise control again if it's a permanent failure now. You can only get to the box with the bumper cover off, and I'm not interested in spending more on the car right now.
