  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Check engine light stays on and runs fine except right after fueling, the engine dies but will immediately start with the engine instantaneously high revving briefly but quickly returns to normal idle. Gas cap is good. Replaced the Canister Control Close Valve (31430-3M000) and Air filter (31453-3M100). Check engine light went out briefly after replacing the two parts, but is now staying on. BlueDriver diagnostic report codes say: Evap.Emission Ctrl System-1)Vent Valve/Solenoid Circuit; 2) Pressure Sensor Range/Performance(DTP_CON); 3) VENT VALVE/ SOLENOICD circuit.
Any suggestions?? Bill Wright 956/244-4301

Based on your description I would check, in this order:
1. The pressor sensor.
2. The rest of the vent solenoid and pressure sensor circuits for wiring issues.
3. The new vent solenoid.
4. The purge valve. Rough running after fueling is often caused by a bad purge valve.

For a guaranteed 100% internet diagnosis half the time every time, it helps to always include the actual diagnostic codes with your post, as well as complete year, model, engine and trim. Not all code readers use consistent language. Sometimes new parts are bad out of the box. Other times there are power, ground, bad connectors, loose pins, shorted/open wires, or other wiring issues.

You need to replace the charcoal fuel vapor canister. The canister gets clogged with fuel and does not let vapor flow to the intake manifold for burning. This is why you have similar codes all related to the EVAP system.

After replacing the canister control close valve & air filter (314303m000 & 315343m100) on my 2012 Genesis with 97,000 miles 5.0 L. The check engine light went off until I fueled up. Then I could hear the vacuum release when I removed the gas cap, but after fueling the engine was slow to restart & accelerated without touching the gas pedal briefly & returned to normal but with check engine light on continuously. Otherwise ran fine & started per normal unless at refueling. If refueling with the engine running, works fine. Is the recommendation for a charcoal fuel vapor canister the same as Vapor canister 31420-3M500? Regards for your help

Check the purge valve.

Yes, same thing. I had these same problems with my 2012 3.8L @ 96k miles. The new canister resolved the problem. For whatever reason, these cars are sensitive to having the fuel tanks topped off to the limit. Once the gas pump shuts off, don't add any more fuel to the tank. Overfilling causes the fuel to go down the vent hole and into the evap system.

Hyundai had the same issues with the 2006 V6 Sonata. Mine was replaced in 2007 with barely 20K miles.
Made absolutely sure when the fueling stops, no topping off that car or my 2014 Genesis.
