  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

The Azera has become something of an odd fit within the Hyundai lineup. It slots above the Sonata but below the Genesis sedan and utilizes front-wheel-drive architecture. Think of it as a sort of Toyota Avalon competitor, a larger, comfortable cruiser for more traditional buyers. Nevertheless, Hyundai is committed to offering the Azera here in the United States, and the automaker has just confirmed via Twitter that next-generation 2012 model will debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show later this year.

It's probably safe to assume that the 2012 Azera will take a shape very similar to the Grandeur sedan seen here. The Grandeur has design elements of both the Sonata and Genesis, keeping in line with the automaker's "fluidic styling" language. As for powertrains, Hyundai hasn't said a peep, but our best guess is that the automaker's 333-hp 3.8-liter V6 will be found underhood, or perhaps a variant of its 274-horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-four. We'll have the full details later this year.2012 Hyundai Azera to debut at LA Auto Show originally appeared on Autoblog on Tue, 26 Jul 2011 15:29:00 EST. Please see our terms for use of feeds.

Nice looking car, but once you've had a V8 it's tough to go back, baby... Well, unless we're talking a supercharged V6 :-).

This car is freaking gorgous! My dad is in the market for a new car, and he went online to check out the Azera, but I told him don't bother until the 2012's come out:) This car rocks:cool:

If they will bring to US all technology bells and whistles the Korean Grandeur has it will be a great car.

This car is absolutely gorgeous. I saw it in person and I wanted to take home with me. My parents want to replace 2005 Camry and I told them the same thing. "Please wait and see Azera / Grandeur before u make a purchase decision"

When is it coming to the States!?!?! I believe it was released in December in Korea. so is it safe to say this winter?

Just went to the dealer last weekend with my dad, and test drove the Sante Fe, 2011 Sonata, but he is more interested in the new Azera when it comes out. My sales man said it would be out next year......Not sure when this really means, but he says he has a list of current Azera owners to call when the new one is available for sale in the U.S. market.

I don't doubt it. I still say this gorgeous thing could end the V6 Genesis.

It could, but why would they? More than 50% of Genesis sales are V6 models.

Until this comes out, do you see a step up from the Sonata other than the V6 Gen? Just a guess, but 1/2 of the V6 Gen drivers will opt for the Azera going forward, especially those in the snow belt who don't trust RWD (rightly or wrongly).
(And not to argue your fact, but since they don't break out coupe from sedan #s they may be skewed some.)

Once again, just an opinion that may be all wet.

I see your point as it might cannibalize some V6 Genesis sales, especially base model buyers. I can see the base model V6 becoming a thing of the past.
The question though is just how many? I'm sure they have some projections on hand :)
I guess a good part of it will depend on how the upcoming Azera feels and drives as well as content and MSRP.
