  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012 Hyundai Genesis priced from $34,200; new 5.0 R-Spec to start at $46,500

I live in an area where AWD would be nice. when I shopped for the current Genesis I looked at options with AWD including the GS and 5 series... neither drove "right" with AWD but the 5 felt the better of the two.

What are the chances Hyundai can deliver an AWD solution without a huge impact on driving character?

I am thinking about replacing my 09 4.6 with the 5.0 R spec,(haven't been in one yet but will when the local dealer has one) I love the value prop of this car, but...

Are we really a couple years away from a Model refresh?
Part of the appeal of the 09 was the fresh design. I don't like driving a last gen model but like to keep my cars for 3-4 years...

I don't see myself keeping this car 2 more years (I would be well over 100k at that point). but I hate the idea that I drop the hammer on the R spec and Hyundai does a full redesign 18 months later.

That just may happen as it does with many automotive cycles.
If it does not happen in 2014 it will in 2015 as the current generation will be 6 years old.

We're at least 2 years away from a full redesign I think. Doesn't make sense to do this sort of refresh for only one or two model years.

The CEO didn't confirm the release date of the redesigned sedan, though he did say the coupe would be a 2013 model. They'll probably stagger the AWD models over a year or two - remember, you got the Coupe, Sedan and Equus (not to mention the possibility of a luxury crossover and minivan).

And I have to agree with Tony... if you're waiting around for the best new tech, you're never gonna buy a new car!

The perfect time to consider a 3 year lease? My Horse expires in Jan. 2014, but I'm expecting "positive equity" ala my '09 Gen. IE, my purchase price will be much less than the real value. If the '14 AWD comes out in June or July I'll just buy the current car and trade it in then. If it's out at the time I'll use the current car as a trade (as I did the Gen).
Otoh, do I recall you putting mucho miles/year on your Gen? I think the most you can get on a lease is 15K.

I can't lease, I run 25-35k miles a year. Purchased in Jan/09 and I have just under 70k miles now.
