  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

For us, the Equus is a brand new vehicle. In South Korea, it's a few years old. Correct? Would that mean the upcoming Equus (5.0 V8, 8 speed transmission) will be getting a cosmetic refresh as well? That's how things normally work. Any thoughts?

I would not expect much other than the powertrain revisions for a while. If you can recall that BMW, Audi and M-B introduce new models in Europe some times a year before they are seen here in North America, all the while the outgoing model is simultaniously produced for N.A. along side of the new model for Europe.

Agreed. Also too soon to piss off early adapters, who made the decision knowing the 5.0/8 was coming.

To be honest with you, I think the Equus will also go through the mid cycle face-lift sometime around '12 or '13.
Like the Genesis, all the sheet metal would stay the same.
Headlights, tails and plastic bumpers/skirts would be the ones that will see minor changes.
But I would much rather have the current transmission.
Going from a proven, reliable ZF tranny to an in-house developed/made 8 speed is the thing that I don't feel comfortable about.

I don't think Hyundai has any problem with pissing off early adopters. Look at the way they handled the free GPS map. They gave it only to people who bought the car several months or later after the car was introduced. Making the early adopters pay for it.

Anyone seen any news on the 2012 Equus? Ive searched and found nothing of real value or any pics of the 2012 Equus.

Please post any news you've found.

Thanks,

ZF trannies are mostly bulletproof.

The new PDK in the 997TT is a ZF.
