  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm close to buying a 2012 R-Spec with about 40,000 miles on it. Overall, the car appears to be in great shape with no issues.

What should I look before I buy--any common problems I ought to be aware of? Am I looking at high maintenance costs over the next couple years, 20,000 miles?

I'm also considering a 2013 M37 with the same miles at the same price. Anybody have experience with both these cars?

Sorry if similar threads have been posted before, but I couldn't find them.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

make sure it doesn't have oil consumption which some 2012's had. mine did it was a pain in the ass but covered under warranty. make sure you get an extended warranty. repairs can be expensive for this car, especially on electronics. example: the radio

Agree. Also make sure the vin tags are on all the body panels.

One thing to be aware of for vehicles with Hyundai's Smart Cruise Control is that the laser module costs $4500. I know because mine went bad. Also, the module may be an excluded item by a vehicle service contract. I purchased the Hyundai CPO Platinum "wrap" contract when I bought the car, but later found out that that module is specifically excluded.

On our contracts you need to purchase the electronics package for laser coverage.
