  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I'm putting together a suspension parts list to possibly upgrade my early 2009 Genny 3.8L. Definitely starting with the sway bar from the 2012-2013.

While in the process of pricing the parts, I noticed that every on-line parts site I search came up with the following part: 55350-3M800, discontinued.

This is the rear spring for the 2012 genesis 3.8. Does anyone know why?

Also, is there a way to know if my car has EPS (which I'm assuming stands for Electronic Power Steering) or not?

Thanks.

The 3.8 does not have electric power steering (it has belt driven hydraulic PS). The V8 has hybrid electro-hydraulic power steering (electric motor powers hydraulics).

It could be they made a small change in the suspension part and the new one has a slightly different part number. One of the online sites that sells OEM parts is www.newhyundaiparts.com, which is run by Hilton Head Hyundai in SC. You can call their parts department and talk to the same people who run the website, and they can probably tell you the answer to your question about what part number you need.

When I upgraded my 2009 suspension to 2010 specs, I ordered all my parts from Hilton Head Hyundai www.newhyundaiparts.com, and discussed the order on the phone with them. It may help if you can "borrow" a VIN number from a 2012/1013 3.8 model because they use that to make sure you are getting the "right" parts.

So, some time has passed and I was hoping to see the 3.8 rear spring suspension for a 2012-14 to be available again. But it is not and I'm very curious to know why. It also makes me wonder what the 2012 4.6 or 5.0 (non r-spec) would be like on the v6. Does anyone have any comments or help?
Thanks.

You should be able to just find the spring for the 2012 V6 without knowing the part number on most of the websites. You can call them up to verify that it is right part and ask questions about EPS, but not sure why you need to order by part number.

In some cases they made part number changes that are retroactive to previous years, and they decided they don't need to stock the old part number.
