If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

About time. 2012's on the lots here in metro Atlanta. Three local dealers have just one 2012 a piece and only the V-6, a grey, red, and black. Going to drive one today and get a close up. Not interested in the V-6 but want to get a feel for the changes.:D

Yesterday, I went to my dealer to get an oil change and they had one red 2012. It was the 3.8 with the Premium Package. Inquired about the R Spec and was told they would not see one til Aug or Sept. I can wait.

Awww you guys beat me to it!

Can you do us all a huge favor, and snap a couple of pics? I'd love to see what a red one looks like, since in Korea, the only colors they offer are white, black, silver and titanium.

Thanks... and let us know how that ride feels!

It looks like there may be a few V8s sprinkled about since one salesman told me they sold the only one they got last night. Not sure if this is typical salesman BS or not. Will post picks and experience soon.

I took a look and some photos during lunch and they only had a base v6 with no options. She still had her sleeping mask on from her trip but you will have to overlook that. I still really liked the exterior changes after getting a close up. They are arriving sporadically so they say they have no idea what to expect next but I will just keep checking locally. Anyone know a good broker that will handle the purchase/lease process? Might try one this time on a lease.

Thanks for taking those pictures. I need to drive the R-Spec before I decide what to do. I so love the Audi interior but the price difference is pretty big.

Thanks for taking the pics, Gadget!

As suspected... the front grill is still always silver. Oh well. Looks great in red... and the red doesn't look different than the '11 red - of course, it's really hard to tell from just these pics. I can't wait 'till I can compare all the different colors in person!

Hey Gadget what was your impression of the car? Pictures never really give you the "true flavor" when compared to the real thing. Were you impressed by the body changes? Can't wait to hear the driving impression. Thanks for pics.

I would like to know the name of the Michelin Tire that Hyundai put on the
2012 Genesis with 18" wheels.

The R Spec is only available in three colors - Black, Grey, and Satin. I was looking forward to getting either the Red or dark Blue this time around as I've only had Black cars since 2002, but so be it. I really want that R Spec. So it will be another Black car. For those of you that can use the USAA buying service, they don't have their pricing posted yet for the 2012s. Hopefully they will in a few days. With USAA you can save some serious coin. You usually get the car below invoice.

What are the requirements for using the USAA buying service? How has their pricing compared to Hyundai Circle pricing? Does Costco still have their program available for purchasing Genesis?

Not sure about the others, but Costco still has a program. I spoke to the Costco Hyundai dealer here in Houston a couple of weeks ago, and at that point they had no info on 2012 pricing. They did give me a rough discount of $5000 on a 2011.

i am still sticking to my guns on the appearance. the front is a + the rear is a - the side i am not a fan of but i could live with. the rear end i could not. it now looks like a cookie cutter LS460 from the rear and rear/qtr angle. not happy.

if someone can put this pick under the new one from the same angle i would love to compare them. i love the back of my genesis, i am just not interested in the rear at all, am i crazy?

Tony... I don't think you're crazy... but I honestly don't think they are much different.... I couldn't find a straight-back angle quickly, so this is the best I can do for now:

They're both beautiful.

need to find the rear shot of a '12 for the US. the one in the picks has a different trunk lid. can you take the pick of the red 3.8 (which is no different in 4.6 form) and post it up next to mine?

thanks for that one though. i now think i see why the rear of the '12's are not doing it for me. it's to bulbous. notice the rear bumpers, forget the exhaust for a minute. look at the center section. they almost squared the bottom betweent he outlets off so it's almost vertical. on the '09-'11 it is almost rolled up, rounded and makes the dual exhaust more pronounced whereas the '12's look like a huge wall of a rear end. the earlier rear has a slight ledge or step one side of the back to the other, it is much more pronounced and defined (too much imo) on the new one. 3 sides out of 4 is livable and the upgrades to the lcd screen in between the gauges, ldws, rear htd seats make the '12 compelling over the '11 but until i get to drive one and sample that trans i will remain skeptical. hope they got it right cause the ZF is amazing (i should know like a few others having gone from the 3.8 to the 4.6). the aisian is ok but after sampling the ZF you would be disappointed to say the least (hyundai cost cutting??) lol

These are the only pics of the US-version we got right now. Other than the license plate area of the trunk lid (and lettering/badging)... I don't see any difference between Korean-spec and US-spec...

Oo

Oo

i agree but that license plate area on the overseas versions really changed the way the rear end came out (imo) the overseas version looks "right" the US version's smaller plate area really changed how i felt once i saw these pics today. and i really dislike the taillights. look like "eyes" lol makes you wonder if the original design didn't incorporate the clear part of the lens design to meet the chrome lip on the trunk lid or it was just coincidental?? the new ones don't have any corresponding feature linking it to the chrome trunk lid molding like the original design?

what a pita i am. can you put a pic of the US spec and overseas spec next to each other?

Sorry bro... I don't see what you see, other than the differences I already called out - tough to see on this red car since it has all the tape on it, and it's a different angle.

This is better:

My first impressions walking up to the car were that, wow, this is nicer than I thought. The changes to the lower part of the bumper and along the side of the car are subtle but noticeably different(not too kit like). The LED light bar on the front almost looks frosted up close. In person, I love the changes more than the old set up but that is purely subjective...to each his own. Anyway, obviously that one wasn't ready to drive as there was no prep done on it yet. I drove over to a dealer closer to my home after work and they had one titanium grey v6 - no package. All the inventory in Atlanta are v6 with no package, strictly base, torture. I drove the grey over the worst roads I could find around the dealer, it was rush hour so i was limited. My impression of the suspension changes are positive. It felt less jittery over the patched up roads but was still firm including the corners. I prefer a stiffer (BMW) style ride personally so I was pleased they didn't overreact to all the complaints about the suspension. I think there approach was balanced. The new six pulls much harder then the old, the extra horses really make a difference you can feel. I'm still getting the eight though:).

I picked up my 2011 4.6 today. The dealer, (a large one) had no clue when they were coming. Said probably a month or two for Non RSpec.
