  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

When you pop the trunk from the key fob - does it open or just release and you still have to lift it? I'm buying a 2012 unseen so I can't answer my own questions. ;)

On my 2009, the trunk just pops up about an inch when unlocked via the fob, interior button, or key. As far as I know that hasn't changed for later model years. A few folks have complained about it on forums.

Same here on a 2012 R-Spec. It just pops up about an inch. I wish it had an automatic open and close motor on it. oh well !

2012 3.8 operates in the same manner. It simply releases the latch and opens about an inch

Lack of a motorized trunk is one of many cost-cutting measure Hyundai does to keep the price down. You're getting a ton of value for your money but there will be some things that aren't truly missed in their cars to keep the price reasonable.

I don't think that Hyundai would have to motorize the trunk lid to improve it. They should just make it spring open all the way, which shouldn't cost much.

I agree. They should make the trunk pop open a bit more. Its hard to even know its open until you see the warning light on the dash.

Correct no motor is needed just some counter weight ;)

Since the KDM Genesis has a motorized trunk mechanism (you can see where the "close" button would be on the bottom of the trunk lip), and assuming that the wiring is in place, it's a pity that we can't get the motor kit over here in the US to fit it ourselves.

Why not? Has anyone looked for a distributor?
