  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I purchased my Genesis Rspec sedan because my Girl wanted a sedan and me a sorts car.

Having owned a G35 6 speed sedan with the sports packages that I drove until 200k and gave it to my son and now it's a show car with twin turbos etc etc etc.

Last week the transmission started violent jerking and missing.

I left it at the dealer and got devastating news. The car was delivered to the 1st owner in July 2011 it was out of warranty by 2 months and 2 days even though it was under the mileage limit.

I was floored and the repair of the valve body pressure switch was over $900.00 and required the car to be lifted and the transition completely disassembled.

My Girl went to Pohanka Hyundai and explained the situation and was told by the attendant that we are stuck and powerless.

Then the General Manager stepped in and instructed the attendant to call the regional representative to explain the details.

An hour later I received a call that under the factory "goodwill" program our car would be fixed for $100.00.

We were hooping like a senior with an acceptance letter to Harvard for basket weaving.

Hyundai now has a customer for life.

Good to hear that it's a solution that you're happy with. With my 2011 4.6 it was the last year with the 4.6 with the 6 speed transmission. My 2015 5.0 HTRAC I bought the extended warranty on in case of any catastrophic failures. I generally don't buy a car if it's the first year of that model or new tech is introduced because they have not worked out the quirks.

I would agree on your position however my research indicated that transmission was developed in 2008 and is used in the Dodge hellcat, range Rover, Mercedes to list a few. That was the reason and I was more concerned with the 5 litre V8 until I was finding cars totaled with engines selling for $1000 .
That car was amazing and at 22k for it vs my 22k options became a slam dunk.

My G35 6 speed sedan had been my favorite car to date and this one has replaced it.

I love it and it's amazingly prominent in my life .

The Hyundai 8-speed transmission was new for 2012, and was designed by Hyundai. The 2009-2011 6-speed transmission used on the Genesis V8's was made by ZF and was used on many other cars.

There were an above average number of problems with the 2012 Genesis transmissions, and Hyundai replaced quite a few of them under warranty.

The 2012 5.0 V8 also had an above average number of problems, and Hyundai replaced many of those also. The problem manifested itself as excess oil consumption.
