  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012...

Isn't the Genesis compared to BMW 7? are the rear seats on the 7 folding?

I believe The Azera has / will have rear folidng seats. It looks like the Azera would be more targeted to BMW 5 sector while the Genesis will keep playing with the big boys.

I haven't checked the rear seats on the 7 series. I think the Genesis is more in line with the 5 series, though some elements of the Genesis, perhaps interior volume, compare favorably to the 7 series. Overall, I think the Genesis is more comparable to the E class and the 5 series. I think Hyundai is aiming at the S class, 7 series and Lexus 460 with the Equus.

Yes, the Genesis is actually aimed at the 5-Series and cars like it. The Equus is the 7-Series competitor.

Either way its crappy that the seats don't fold down. With all the technology you mean to tell me they couldn't figure out any other way to hold the car together other then the back seats.. come on!

I keep hearing that the seats don't fold for structural reasons, but Mercedes and BMW seem to have solved the problem. On the other hand, the rear seats in the Lexus ES and the Infiniti G and M don't fold either. Decisions, decisions...

Rear seats don't go down? I'll take the 15k savings and not worry about it.

8spd all across the board, no AWD yet
3.8GDI, 4.6, 5.0GDI
lane departure warning system
power folding mirrors w/puddle lamp
R-spec w/sport tuned suspension (5.0)
Heated rear seat

just to name few of the changes for the 2012

:)

Is the sports suspension going to match the functionality that exists on the KDM?

What would MacGuyver do?
He would take the Equus wine stopper and fashion a new module to fix the telescopic steering wheel problem once and for all.

Went to the Philly Auto Show yesterday and spoke to the rep. Claims she knows nothing about any early release of a 2012 and in particular had no information to confirm the 5.0. Question is was she just stonewalling....

Source?
4.6 & 5.0 getting larger brakes... does this mean it's larger than the current 4.6 brakes?
19" wheels are so nice. I want a set!

When can we expect AWD in the Genesis? I thought I read somewhere that it was being considered for the 2012 model? Inquiring minds want to know....

2013 will be the “next generation' with a new body design and an AWD option

Thanks for that confirmation - it can't come soon enough for me!

Can you tell us your source, please? I'd love to read up on those specs.

Are you sure about this? I haven't seen anything mentioned specifically about a redesign. Seems a bit abrupt to redesign after only 4 years, but then again, I suppose Hyundai is very "forward-thinking" these days.
