  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012...

Thanks for link. Conti's should be a welcome improvement.

I almost bought a 2011 Genesis 4.6 but the day I went to test drive I seen the info on the new 2012, now I'm really sold and can't wait for them to hit the U.S. dealers. Btw, did you folks notice that on one of the pic's of the console that there were buttons for "sport", "Clean and Ion", a button that looks like what the MB E class has to raise the suspension and buttons which look like heat and cooling for both front seats? Also there were pics for a back seat entertainment system! I hope these options come to the U.S......

HUH?!? Where are these pics you mention? There is a "sport" button?

EDIT... I found those pics.. all these pics are the KDM version of the Genesis... We never get that stuff over here.

Yeah, I saw all those options too - they're all for the Korean market, unfortunately.

Other things I saw on those pics and wish would be in the US-spec:

• Piano black steering wheel (and of course, the wing emblem standard)
• Heated steering wheel
• Cooled passenger seat
• Wood-trimmed rear seat console w/ rear entertainment/radio controls
• Flip-up rear entertainment system
• Winged badges all around - YES PLEASE!
• Left-aligned "GENESIS" rear lettering (though I can fix that myself)

Things I don't know, but wish I did:

• Clean ion filter? Whatever that is, I want it!
• Sport suspension (might be standard on the R spec, who knows)
• Whatever that "P" button is below the seat heater (ANYONE?)

Things I see that I wouldn't want:

• Those quad LED headlights - mmmmm no thanks.

Question for current owners... where's the battery in your car?

Having been closing in on buying a 2011, I am now waiting on the 2012. However, Hyundai appears to be keeping its cards close to its chest on the launch date> Does anyone have any insight, based on prior behavior or inside knowledge?

Has anybody found the official 2012 prices? It was supposed to be announced on 9-Mar-11. Unable to find on google searches

jhope, I believe the pricing that was to be released on March 9, 2011, was the price for the 2012 Genesis Sedan for the South Korean market. I was able to get on the Korean version of the Hyundai website and while it appears that the prices are on the site for the 2012, even using Google Chrome's built-in translator I was not able to make much sense of the information and prices that are provided.

If that info could have been gleaned from that site, it would be interesting to compare price of the 2011 and 2012 sedans and note the percentage of a. That increase would likely carry over to US market.

I don't think they offer the 5.0 in Korea.... but I suppose that could work for an estimate on the 4.6 and 3.8!

:)

Exactly right.

Thanks for your feedback. I will keep checking for 2012 prices. Like to know if the optional packages changed in scope and price as well. Would like to purchase a 2012 Sedan with current 2011 premium package. Will provide feedback if I find anything. Thanks Again!

Has anyone looked at or considered 2011 Chrysler C? If so, any comments on comparison.

Not at all. The reliablity is the worst in the car industry or, at best, no better than about 3rd from the bottom. Hyundai is one of the top four or five most reliable cars.

True that the Chryslers before bankruptcy were not the most reliable but wondering about the "new" Chrysler 300c. Quite a different car in many ways. In the Motor Trend comparison, Chrysler C spanked the '11 4.6. I guess the a better comparison may have been with the 5.0 but nevertheless, the C did pretty well. I plan on driving one when it is available to see for myself.

New J.D. Powers out this month and current True Delta info shows Chrysler is still among the most unreliable cars.

Not sure how JD Power survey could have enough data to accurately address reliability of the 2011 Chrysler models as they are just being released. If it refers to 2010 and earlier, then there is no question about findings. Again, I am not saying it is a better choice than the R Spec but I do think in my case, I owe it to myself to explore all possibiliites.
