  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2012...

I wouldn't count on another "classic" Genesis after the redesign, Tony - if anything, Hyundai is gonna bring it up closer to the looks of the Azera/Sonata - you know... cutting-edge Hyundai.

That's a problem, because cutting-edge looks age quicker. I agree with you that the '09-'11's are going to look good for years, but I think the '12s will also. They are really not that much different.

I gotta disagree with this, I think the Genesis is gonna keep the more "classic" and reserved look to appeal to luxury buyers. I remember hyundai even saying they wanted to keep it that way. The "cutting-edge" design of the sonata will most likely stay on those lower models with the Genesis being the cutoff between budget and luxury.

I would also tend to agree with this. Typical luxury or near luxury buyers tend to go for slightly more conservative designs. Personally, I hope that they do not stray too far in the first re-design whether that happens in 2014 or later.
There is always room for improvement in any design, but IMHO Hyundai nailed the design the first time around - kind of an Infiniti-Merc-Lexus-Bimmer with a Korean character all it's own lol.

Look at the video I posted above. You can see it CLEARLY. That's the R spec official video... so yeah, that's what you're getting.

i have been behind LS460's and other luxury cars with this design. it's not for me. i have seen, too ma ny times now that i know it's EVERY time, that the exhaust is some little crappy pipe that stops just shy and is not connected to the "fake" outlets. At night, with no headlights on it yeah it looks integrated, but not to me. if you're into that sort of thing, with all the extra cladding and "stuck-on" type rocker panels god bless you. i like the sleekness of these cars, otherwise i would've bought a 300c, because that screams stick on dressing up.. God only kows what they were thinking flipping the side lower rockers OUT when they wrapped under. it looks horrible to me, screams cheap body kit (think those old C4 body kits of the late 80's). I like the front fascia that's it.

I totally agree with the luxury = conservative look. The only thing I would like to see in future versions of the Genesis is the roof line be brought down about an inch and flatter. More like the Equus roof line. IMHO ! :)

Tony,
Funny you should mention that you dont like the new look. Im just the opposite. I like the flared out panels. Looks more grounded to me. more substantial. Just IMHO.. I know everyone has different taste. Not trying to start an argument :)

+1

The side panels are not as "flush" and integrated on the 12's as on the 11's... other than that, I am really diggin' the front and rear of the new model.

Still think the Genny should offer body-colored front grille inserts! It's funny... but the Hyundai site shows the new car with this. I'm pretty sure the 12's won't have that look though.....

I am wondering when these vehicles will hit the dealer lots???... I am anxious to see it in person. Thinking of trading in my 2004 bmw530 some day and interested in seeing/driving the 2012.

Please post if you have seen a 2012 at a dealer. None in my area yet

Should be very soon, since they have 2012 on Hyundai website (startig a few days ago). I would check with your local dealer, since transportation from port of entry to dealer may vary depending on location and how many your dealer ordered (some dealers with lots of 2011 inventory may delay 2012 orders).

2012 Genesis's are starting to show up on Autotrader. Right now, 76 listed around the country.

None within 200 miles of where I am in the North East though! The dealers have the small matter of 2,200 2011 to clear out as well!

Something about Autotrader seems fishy... I didn't see a single V8 on there...

Also, when I checked out the dealer's website (the one that had the majority of the cars, allegedly, anyway), they were all 1.6L's. LOL

Oo

Turn radius is one of the most important things to me, so obviously it was one of the first things i looked at when I saw the 2012 was on the Hyundai website.
It says it is 36 ft! Wasn't the 2011 18 feet?

18 feet? Lol, it's not a go cart!
