If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi wanted to check with folk how much mpg are you getting on your genesis? Mine is 20 avg between which I feel is less compared to what I used to get and cant figure out why. I did get new sumitomo tires.

2011 4.6, not sure what it gets in town as its my wife daily driver, but I took a 500 mile trip to N.C last week and I got 27-28 on the highway.

I just drove from FL to MD and averaged about 28 mpg at 80 mph in my 2013 3.8L

I think highway miles are still okay. I was trying to get the city and average. I need to get it checked as currently my avg is 19, which is pretty bad.

These are heavy cars (including the v6) and so mpg will depend heavily on driving conditions and how you use your right foot. Tires can be up to +/-10% on fuel mileage. Sticky summer rubber like the Michelin MPS4S I have on my car will be less efficient than high-efficiency touring tires.

same here for my 09 4.6, in town it's 20-22 usually.

Mine is 2013, 3.8 V6 and it gives me avg highway and city 18. I think there is something wrong with it. I changed the air filter and oil change and new tires. Spark plugs are fine too. Any other recommendation? Thanks!

I bought a 2009 4.6 a couple of weeks ago. 79k miles. I’m in love with her.

It’s only getting 13mpg city though. I have to be honest, this is my first V8 so I am enjoying her.

I did put in an OEM air filter, as the old one was atrociously dirty and clogged. It made a huge difference when I give her throttle.

What should I do next? Oil change? Fuel filter? Clean the throttle body and MAF sensor? Spark plugs? Techron bottle?

Firestone recommended their “fuel system cleaning” service but maybe I can do that myself?

I really want to take care of her. I got into cars late in life and she’s my second car.

Thanks everyone

60/40 (citi/highway), the average observed / calculated samples, over the last 11 years,
With 25% hard acceleration, top tier gas, 180k combined miles.
2009 4.6, 0-60k miles 17MPG, 60-108k 16MPG
2013 5.0R 15MPG
2015 5.0 16MPG
2016 3.8 19MPG
The way I have always looked at it, BMW 530i, E350, A6 might have been 1-3MPG better, but between the initial cost / depreciation difference, maintenance and repairs I ended up $$$$$ ahead....🍻

Bad? Your car is fine. My ‘12 3.8 gets 17 mpg in town. Relax and enjoy stomping on the gas pedal.

I'm getting 12 mpg in city. and 18 on highway. I thought that was bad.. When I drive 1 mile, the remaining miles drops by 4 miles. It was not behaving like this before. So Idk if there is something wrong with gas tank filter or something else?

Indeed, that seems a bit odd, in the 2013 R-Spec I think I got down to 13mpg once in the city With 75% lead foot method.
Are you seeing 210-220 miles per fill up?
If you are not sure, I would propose that you fill up, reset trip A odo, drive it until the gas light comes on, then fill it up again, make a note of the total gallons, then simply divid A trip miles / fill up gallons.
