  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hi All, New here
Just recently bought a coupe with 105,000 miles .
It has a "knock" My experience as a 30 plus year Chrysler Tech has me believing it is a rod Knock. I have read Numerous posts about this being a common issue with the 2.0T engine lowers with a premature wear on the connecting rod bearings, causing what I believe I am hearing .
The threads I have read state that Hyundai has extended the warranty on the Theta engines to 120,000 miles.
I contacted Hyundai with my VIN today and was told my warranty was expired at 100,000.
Has anyone here had a similar experience? And if so were you able to get any help with the Known engine defects repair? Beyond the 100K ?
This car was well maintained regular oil changes "documented" and owned by my sister since new.

I don't see the 2013 Genesis Coupe listed here

As Ed said above, the Genesis Coupe seems to be absent from the recall. If you enter your VIN at this website below and do not get a confirmation of warranty coverage then CONTACT THE NHTSA.

Thank you Ed I did not see the genesis included either but given the year and engine I had hoped it would have been included in the engine warranty extension.
I have contacted Hyundai customer care and was told that no the warranty was not beyond the 100K mark, and am asking if anyone here has had the engine covered beyond the original 100K mark and what was the path taken to get assistance from Hyundai.

Ernie I have seen the links you sent and thank you,
You are welcome, but there are other readers of this thread who have not. Please share your progress on this matter with us all.

My daughter got lucky on this. She has a 2012 Sonata 2.0T. They did a software update involving the knock sensor. Along with the update came (as part of some settlement) a lifetime replacement warranty for the engine. Of course, it only applies to failure in the lower part of the engine.
I do feel like you were cheated that your model with the same engine was not included.
