  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Model Type
1G Genesis Sedan (2009-2014)
I am posting this from Ft McMurray, Alberta.
In case you dont know it gets really cold up here ...like -40 at times. brrr
Anyway i own a 2013 R-Spec i have owned it since Dec of 2015 it only had 62,000 KM at.thay time.
This is the most reliable car i have ever owned !
It starts every time no matter if its +37 or -47 .
This car is amazingly reliable. Not only is it reliable but it is an amazing car to drive and be a passenger in front or rear seating is soo comfortable. I have never had a problem with the rear wheel drive aspect as I grew up on rwar wheel drive. That is another amazing piece of technology for the rear wheel drive traction/stability control system works fantastic in our winters.
I have had to replace.the alternator at 180,000 Km and she is as reliable today at 265,426 KM as it always has been.
I love this Car !!!
Hope this helps any potential newcomers !

Thank you for update! I have a history of owning Honda Accords but wanted a sleeper sedan within my budget. Last month I purchased a '13 Rspec with only 51K miles. It looks absolutely brand new and as you said, is amazing to drive. Looking forward to many trouble free miles. Thanks again.

That's great! I just purchased my 13 R-spec last month as well! 53k and super clean too. Glad we both locked up some good ones.
I'm in the same boat as you prob were. Love hondas and toyotas...cant do any German rigs. This car fits what I need perfectly, except the mpg. I was done with fwd 4 cyl cars. Best of luck with more miles/kms to put on and enjoy the hell out of em!

I've had my 2013 R spec for about 8 months now. It appears very reliable so far but will be hard put to outdo my 2005 Vibe that was still going strong at 380,000K with starter, alternator, water pump and battery replaced once only. Mind you a lot faster and more comfortable. Just hit 96K. Kilometres not miles. :)
Did tons of research, comparing and evaluating. This one was the winner by far. Nothing else came close for me.

I think it will be hard to beat the Vibe -- it is a Toyota wrapped in Pontiac clothing :). Good choice with the Genesis though.

Hey guys I'm new to the Forum
I purchased a 2013 Genesis Sedan with 65,000 miles on it about little over a month ago I've had a lot of reliable
Camrys but i love this Genesis I'm constantly cleaning and polishing also had the trans serviced replaced the battery. hope it last a while . To me its in a Different class of car than the camry . The Genesis is fun to drive its not like everybody's elses car i enjoy it my camry was the boring 4 cylinder . anyways just putting my 2 cents
if i want a car that go's forever and ever The Lincoln Town car and the Crown vic go 500,000 miles easy but way different car .

I have the same vehicle in both versions fully loaded with Navigation, AFLS, Sunroof, Smart Cruise ,Lexicon DVD, Lane Departure Warning System etc ie The 3.8 V6 Sedan(137K miles) and The 5.0 R Spec V8 SedanX2(40K miles on each) the later is the best in it's class and a rare beast. Both run like new However That Toyota Camry is technically not in the same class No where close to either one of these Genny beauties especially if fully loaded The truth is Toyota Camry is rubbish in comparison

Loving my '10 Gen as well!

Be sure to change the transmission fluid (and really all of them) at the dealer if at all possible. Transmission drain/fill should cost around $300 USD and well worth it.
I still love my car but have spent a good bit of money with maintenance/replacing parts around the 100,000 mile mark.

That's sounds like a good idea nevertheless if I get access to resources with guidance from the manufacturer's repair manual my personal preference would be to get it done myself rather than donate 3 pandemic bills to the dealer. Am not too proud to get my hands dirty It's not impossible to do anyways I will do it step by step with pride Just like am about to change my steering system on one of my 13 R Spec ChrisFix said I could Lol
