  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all

very long story so I will try to keep it short as I need help.
My 2013 sedan ran the battery out one evening. My friend tried to jump it without me and used the battery in the trunk…Well after that it wouldnt start. It would just crank non stop until I pushed the start/stop button (Like there was no fuel). But there was
So it was towed to the nearby dealership.
They say the ignition control module is bad (I suppose from jumping it from the battery vs the posts in the engine bay???)

Apparently this part is on back order for the last MONTH. As my car has been sitting there ever since. And they want to charge over $1100 for the part and install. I finally got the part number and some searching lead me to plenty of options on eBay for cheap.
can I install a used module? I assume so???? I just want my car back.

The part is 39175-3F000

I've jumped my sedans many times from the battery terminals without issue. A "bad" jump will normally only fry electronics if hooked up with polarity reversed. So your issue is most likely coincidence, not causation (at least not the way implied). There might be something else wrong that killed both, or the bad module killed the battery (IDK if possible?).

$30 on ebay or $700+ OEM. I'd say try the $30 junkyard part and pat yourself on the back if it works. Dealer will probably want compensation for the diagnosis labor. $150-250 is reasonable.

To update. The $70 used part from eBay solved the issue. Good news indeed. The Genesis is back at home finally. It was fun to drive today for sure!
