  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have been enjoying a wide range of DVD-Audio, DTS-CDs and normal DVDs (ya some CDs too) both original and ripped copies from blank media. However I have a few discs that do not get recognized (spit back out) but my old aftermarket DVD-Audio unit played fine. Those are few so I am not too concerned.

More interesting is that I have some discs with DTS 24/94 encoding that play and sound like you are holding the scan (fast forward) button when listening to a normal CD. You can make out the music it kinda drops in and out, no distortion, etc. "I think" some of my DTS DVD-Audio are fine. Any ideas?

Thanks

If you are playing discs that you burned yourself with a DVD-R disc, then you may be SOL on those because it is hit or miss as to whether they will play on certain players (even if others play them fine).

If you are having problems on a factory burned disc, and your car has less than 36K miles, and is less than 36 months old, take it to a dealer immediately for warranty service.

What Mark said and in addition I find DVD-R work best in my Genesis, single layer or DL discs. The +R seem to have more problems with skipping and I've seen others confirm the same.

That is good to know and all of mine are DVD-R single layer. I am still trying to figure out which discs have issues and if there is a common attribute.

Btw is there anyway to get audio info on screen regarding bit rate / number channels etc? My aftermarket unit had a mode I could verify I was playing did audio mlp vs dts vs normal dvd video etc

I'm not sure on that one. I make my own dvd-audio and I'm only burning the mlp tracks so there's nothing on it but surround and stereo mlp so no need to check. Otherwise with commercial discs which have dvd-video and dvd-audio layers if I recall correctly it defaults to autoplay the dvd-audio first. If you want you can still navigate to other playlists such as the dvd-video.

Yes usually I navigate and it is ok. The few discs that have a problem are hybrid discs that the DVDs-audio does not play correctly so I have to deal with the normal compressed Dolby or dts tracks. I have yet to burn my own MLP. Do you uses standard definition or higher resolution tracks? I have a good amount of 24/96 that I play on my home system that I was thinking of making some discs from... I would image they sound pretty good. I wasn't too happy with the iPod interface so either it is the low quality of the iPhone output or the analog input of the lexicon system. I have yet to try MP3 off USB which may be better since the input is straight digital like a disc... Idk Thanks

I burn high resolution dvd-audio discs. I take the individual .mlp tracks off the original dvd-audio discs and then use the .mlp tracks to build my own dvd-audio disc with no video side.
