  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I am negotiating on a new 13 RSPEC. Right now, it looks like 12 K off the MSRP. So, is that about right or should I wait a month? I've been lurking here for some time and have read the posts about oil consumption and electronic gremlins with some of these cars. Just how common are these problems? If I buy a Hyundai, it won't be from my local dealer, but I may be stuck with him for service. They sold a grand total of two Genesis last year and both were the V6. Any and all input would be appreciated.

Yessss!!!! Oh sorry i was replying to the title. I have had my 13 r spec for two months. I can honestly say it is the best car i have ever had. She fits like a glove and i hace not noticed heavy oil consumption or any other problems. Just pure joy!:D

+1
12K OFF MSRP is a no brainer.
Waiting a month or so is playing Russian roulette.
If you wanted it, go get it NOW before someone else does.
Final year model is the way to buy a new car such as the genesis where all (or most of) the glitches have been worked out.

My (new) 2013 Genesis 3.8 w/Tech was about $12k off MSRP in April, which translates to about 25% off. This was before the 2015s made it to our shores.

You should be able to do at least as well, if not better. I love the 3.8.

Almost final year, as there were some 2014s out there as well. But your point is well taken. The 2012s had some new features, and I'm expecting them to have been worked out for the 2013s.

Officially mine is a 2013 but technically it is a 2014 car according to my dealership.
My car color code (caspian Black) is a 2014 one and wasn't available for all 2013 models year, per Hyundai USA site. Car mfg date is July 2013, purchased in Oct 2013.

Where is this car??

I got '13 as well, bought it 9 weeks ago for 33.3k with 4600 miles on ODO. It runs perfect (knock on wood) so far, doesn't take oil, still at "max" after I've put 2000 miles on it.

If its brand new (very few miles) , then 12k off the MSRP is good price, go for it! :)

btw.

check production date! it might be manufactured as far as February 2012 - I've seen that before!

The early 2012 5.0 engines had the oil burn issue, which was fixed mid year. 2013's don't thave that problem.

Pull the trigger! I did four weeks ago and have not had any buyers remorse. It is a wonderful car. Find the one you want. I went out of state to find my white Satin Pearl. I wanted the lowest mile one I could find. Mine had 50 on it. Most had a few hundred from salesman and test drives. I found that Internet inventory searches were not up to date as far as mileage goes. Have the salesman go out and actually look at the odometer and not rely on outdated ads.
My only issue was three screw holes drilled for the front license plate which I dont need in Michigan. Im still looking for the best way to fill these.
Good luck! Feel free to ask any questions.

Exactly what he said. The dealership I bought mine from had two 3.8 Techs listed. One listed with 25 miles, the other with 40. When I got there, one had 158, the other had 16. I test drove the one with 158, then bought the other.

Had mine just 2 months, but no oil consumption and no electrical gremlins. I did have a GDI pump replaced for noise, but after a week of driving, the new pump is just as loud as the old one. Guess it goes with the territory until they figure out how to quiet them down.

Service folks said they get alot of GDI pump noise complaints in one of the other hyundai cars.

That's a smoking good price, buy with confidence.

DO IT!!! I couldn't decide when I first started looking and there were quite a few to be had. The day I went to buy, there were hardly any to be had, especially the R-Spec. I love mine, had it now for 5 weeks, no issues at all. It is a nice ride, I'm quite impressed. Good luck with your decision!

I did it last week. 2013 with 180KM, or just over 100 miles. Got 14K off the MSRP which is higher here than the US. Had to be the last one in CANADA cause mid APril there were only 6 left DO IT! You will not be disappointed!

Sorry about that. I hope you can find another one. :(

The car sold yesterday! Oh well, they make them every day.
Stoney -- I've got a 11 month old 2013 Rspec with 8k miles on it (thus still has 52k miles and 4+ years on the factory warranty). I will probably trade to the dealer for a 2015 5.0 Ultimate. Only reason I need to trade or sell the 2013 Rspec is that I need the power bolstered seats in the 2015 due to serious spinal issues I have.

Your question regarding any issues with the 2013 Rspec, I have experienced no issues with the Rspec mechanically, nor with the quality. Whenever I do trade my Rspec it will be a sad day because I know after having the car that it is a great machine and it will go the distance. I wish it had mechanical issues so I'd have a reason to trade a perfect garage kept well built quality car. I would not be concerned about getting a new one since they are built to last, and you will know that it has some miles on it and there have been no problems. What's nice about the Rspec is they all have the same equipment thus when being built the only differences between one 2013 Rspec and another will be the color -- no changes in the options -- that makes for a better built car from my experience. Just make sure you get one that has all the service records, and get one that has been serviced at the dealer and at the 3,750 mile interval. Its a solid will built car -- you will not have any issues with it. You will love the quality of the Rspec. Regards
