  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Is there a Hyundai customer help number to call? If not a web site where they will answer questions? I just traded my 2010 for a 2013 (Tech). The dealership tried to be helpful, but it is obvious that they really don't know how the car works. Even if they give me an answer, I have no idea if they are guessing (again) or if they actually know the answer.

I am a little befuddled by the DRLs. It appears that the white line is only illuminated when the parking lights are on. That strikes me as silly. Can I make the curved white DRLs turn on without the parking lights also on?

Is there a way to make the display stop presenting the black & white "agree" thing that requires me to press "accept" every time I turn the car on? This really irritates me. I don't want my car presenting a stupid legal contract to me every time I drive it.

Hi, the "Accept" is your constant companion...
I just leave my light switch on Auto..White Line is always On..
Parking lights also illuminate White Line...
Hyundai:- (800) 633-5151 ~~ Mostly they will refer you back to the dealership...

The headlight question was answered by the above user.

The "agree" disclaimer on the GPS is always going to be there and you have to accept it everytime. This type of input is required on many other car manufactures and even my GPS. What some do is that after a 30 second delay it will clear the screen and take you to the home menu which the Genesis does not do but either way it a simple press of the DIS thats needed.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I hope the dealer was smart enough to tell you that an owner's manual came with your car.

Those purdy accent lights are not the DRLs. They come on only with the headlights, or the parking lights in the '12 models.

While many dealerships have employees who would like to understand your car, they frequently have trouble understanding the main features of most of the cars in their line.
As an example, I have attended auto shows where the guys manning the booth are clueless. These are the guys supposed to be exposing the car to the public.
In one example a promoter knew the buzzword "Turbo" and when I said, "Turbocharger" he thought I was talking about a seperate part! This isn't always the case, but sadly frequently true. Many of the sales staff wouldn't know a turbocharger if you dropped it on their foot.
On a car with as many features as the Genesis it can take a long time to learn them all. Many owners are perfectly happy NOT learning how to work everything. (My wife is a Luddite example.)

Thanks for the answers guys. I didn't try leaving the lights on auto. Will do that.

I have been reading the numerous manuals, which is how I figured out that the guys at the dealer haven't learned it all. I do sympathies with them though, in that they have lots of different Hyundai models to deal with.

I agree. I posted this on another site that the local dealers really don't know much about the cars they sell. The local dodge dealer here has regular Saturday am meeting with coffee and donuts with discussion groups to explain features etc. I don't know how good they are since I don't own a Dodge...and don't plan too.

The auto position won't change your DRL function. The eyebrow is only the running light. Your DRLs are the high beams. You do need to leave the switch in auto for the AFLS function to work though (page 4-78).

For real? So, if you just turn the headlights to the "on" position, the AFLS doesn't work? Wow! That's crazy IMO.

Now I'm confused!!!!!!

Actually, auto leveling feature works, but the swivel feature only works in the auto position, from 4-81:

AFLS (Adaptive Front Lighting
System) (if equipped)
Adaptive front lighting system uses the
steering angle and vehicle speed, to
keep your field of vision wide by swiveling
and leveling the headlamp.
Turn the knob to the AUTO position when
the engine is running. The adaptive front
lighting system will operate when the
headlamp is ON. To turn off the AFLS,
turn the knob to the other position. After
turning the AFLS off, headlamp swiveling
no longer occurs, but leveling operates
continuously.

I am still confused. I thought that I saw the eyebrow (I like your description) illuminated without the parking lights on while I was at the dealership. I can't figure out how to make my car illuminate the eyebrow only, without the parking lights on. Are they wired together and really only one light, or can they be independently turned on?

P. 3-81 says that the DRL turns off when:
headlight is on
parking brake is applied
engine stops

So, I stopped the car, with the engine running; got out, leaving the parking brake off; and looked at the front. The parking lights were on. I probably had AUTO on, so I need to try it again, with AUTO off.

Again, the accent eyebrow lights are NOT your DRLs. They come on only with parking and headlight settings. Otherwise, your DRL's are on all the time without eyebrow lights. That's how it is in the '12 models, anywho.

This is dizzing for sure!!

Try Parking lights on with parking brake on

Ok, let me get the right..
The Eyebrows are always On when ignition is On. DRL's are On when the ignition is On & the Light switch is On or Auto.
The Auto turns On the headlights when it's Dark, the moving headlights Only work when the Light switch is on Auto..The DRL's turn into High Beams when the High Beam is selected..The lower driving lights Turn Off when the High Beams are On -> They resume On when headlights are On in the normal driving position.. My MIL's brisket is cooked and ready to eat! If engine is running and in Park, the DRL's can be extinguished by applying the Emergency Brake!! Activating the Hazards will Turn Off the DRL's.. Potatoes & veggies are ready. Don't forget the Bud""... The Passengers front door (exterior touch button) will Lock/Unlock All the Doors. The drivers door (exterior touch button) will require 2 activations to Unlock All the Doors. The radio dial can be alternated between White or Black background using the the Large Centre control wheel toggled between the 12 & 6 o'clock positions.. Now, pass the gravy".. ? -> if the front windows & sun roof are Open, will using the Remote close these as well as folding in the Mirrors & Locking the vehicle ?...........Being a short ass" when the drivers seat is in the Ingress position I cannot reach the brake pedal to deactivate the isolation switch
and thus allow the Push Button Start to activate/start the vehicle..:grouphug:

Tx...........:)
