2014 3.8 rough ride

Hi, my first post here

I have a new to me 2014 Genesis 3.8 sedan with about 35K miles. While the car is very quiet and smooth on good pavement, I find the ride to be extremely rough and loud when the road is not so great. For reference, my 2017 Ford F150 2WD pickup is much, much smoother on the same roads.

I'd like to do something to significantly improve the cushiness of the ride. I'm not so much concerned with sportiness, so its OK to give up a little cornering performance.

First thought is to drop my tire pressures down to 30 psi cold. I have 18" Kuhmos on the car now. Can I go with older 17" Genesis wheels? Will they bolt on? 17" wheels with a high profile touring tires should make a huge difference, yes?

I have a really irritating squeak coming from the rear suspension that grows more pronounced thru the day, becoming quite loud in the evening. Dealer couldn't find anything after 4 days with the car. Is this common?

One of the reasons the Genesis has the rough ride is because the frame is so stiff. My 2010 is same way. On expressways, it will cruise like an old Caddy. The tire difference from the 18" to 17" tires is going from a 50 series, on the 18" tire, to a 55 series on the 17" tire. It might make a little difference, but I'm betting not much. As for dropping the tire pressure, 30 lbs., may trigger the low tire warnings. My Genesis triggers at 30 lbs. 33 is book tire pressure.
The Genesis wheelbase for 2009-14 is about 115.5", which is 2" longer than the panther platform from the Ford Crown Vic of the 80's and early 90's. Hard to imagine an auto of this size that handles so well. I've had some #3 BMW's on mountain roads try to keep up. Maybe the driver just chickened out. Enjoy the Genesis!

At 35,000 your tires are likely shot if they are originals. Stick with the 18" wheels and find a better tire. That squeak could also be tied to a suspension problem. Get a second opinion.
