Reviewer could not get over the fact that RLX was FWD.
And at that price point why should he? Honda won't move these until they design the car around a dedicated RWD platform. Buyers in this price point demand certain things.... FWD, nose heavy, same old Honda isn't exactly going to sell at 50K and up (let alone 60K if you require the "Advanced" trim.
Let the market speak... and they will with their wallets. That has been the story for the Acura brand over the last 5 years.
That car was on my radar... in '02. (Well... the RL was). You know, before they beakified the hell out of the brand, and in my opinion destroyed it.
I just can't take any of their cars seriously, because I can't even get past the LOOKS before considering anything underneath. I don't even know what the interiors look like these days, nor what powers them. What's the point?

Agree completely. I was also considering an Acura in '02, but wasn't at all comfortable in it. I ended up getting an '03 Infiniti G35 instead. I don't care for the appearance of the more recent Acuras, and didn't even consider them when I was shopping in 2010.
This is what happens when automakers try to gain favor with professional auto reviewers, who seem to place a lot of emphasis on "unique" and/or "distinctive" designs. In truth, most automobile buyers don't care about uniqueness, they only care about attractiveness. This is especially true for the Genesis which has borrowed design elements from MB and BMW with great success. It baffles me, honestly... what is Honda thinking? Yes, it is good to try something "edgy" or "revolutionary"... or even polarizing (hey, Hyundai does it too, i.e. Veloster).
However, I would say the majority of people, enthusiasts even, dislike that design language in the front (and back). You'd think they'd tone it down a bit and actually sell more cars. Oh well... lots of other, better-looking cars out there for me to choose from.
As for the RDX... honestly, their SUV's look better than their sedans. Maybe I'm just more used to SUV's being a bit more edgy these days, I don't know.
That is pretty harsh since you haven't even driven the car. I can "sort of" see why some say the TL is a glitzed-up Honda Accord, but saying that about the RLX is completely wrong. I guess a lot of people think the Genesis is a glitzed up Hyundai Sonata.Man that WSJ article completely nailed it. When I look at this car, I think glitzed-up Honda Accord.

If you owned a TL you should know that it shares a platform with the Accord, but not the RLX. The RL was always a completely different car. That is an inappropriate comparison. Sonata is FWD, Genesis is RWD. Completely different platforms, completely different drivetrains, completely different everything. And FYI I did drive the Acura RL, and owned an Acura TL before that. Just stop. Typing. Words.
