  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2014 Cadillac CTS priced

Furthermore, I don't recall any such disdain for the RLX thread.

There was a difference in the two threads (as I understood them). The Acura thread had a discussion of the merits of the RLX and not just a statement that "buyers should look into it" (that stands to reason for most of us when considering a new car).

Personally, I have known only a few friends that bought Acura's and every one of them did not keep the vehicle very long. I don't know all the reasons but that fact alone prompts me to remove the upscale Honda from my personal buy list. Although I have spent a lifetime owning two and three-wheeled Honda's I am not impressed by their cars and never have been. To me an Acura is just a teched-up Honda sold at an obscene price. Kind of reminds me of the Cadillac Cimarron which ruined the marque for me forever.

I am interested and will take a serious look at this car. The price is a concern and could be a deal killer. I think Cadillac quality is higher than Hyundai's but the G will probably continue to be a great value. The next generation G is drawing mixed reviews here for styling but I like the look a lot.

It could possibly come down to the new G or the CTS for me but I haven't begun my search yet.

They couldn't give the CTS those prices because it would be right on top of the ATS, which I feel is a bit overpriced as well. IMO, the V-Sport is the only CTS to get. The 2.0T and 3.6L don't exactly make the smaller, lighter ATS a drag racer. A 3.8L G should have no problem showing any CTS below the V-Sport its taillights and be more efficient to boot.

Even if Hyundai raises prices by $5-7K(which I feel is reasonable), the G would still be a screaming deal considering all of its competitors would still be $10-15K more expensive.

Sorry, but your post didn't come off like you intended (at least to me).

If you are really interested in publicizing multiple vehicles you should post a comparo or at least a link so readers could follow why you think another car may be a better choice than the Genny.

Hmm, well, I have to say that this absurd comment makes it extremely difficult for me to formulate a response. Gongrats, you win!

My brother in law let me drive his CTS-V coupe, and that is a freaking rocket ship.:D I'd probably get in trouble with it pretty quick.

Why the F would i spend 60K on a CTSV v-6TT ?????

when i can spend the same amount of money on a 3 series ????
Sorry BMW wins this battle.

You're comparing different classes of car. The ATS is the 3 series competitor. The CTS should be compared to the 5 series.

And regarding pricing, what I read is that Cadillac is intentionally pricing closer to BMW and Mercedes because they feel the quality of the cars merits it. I think it's a bad decision.

Actually, I can say from experience that GM has come a long way (I own a new full sized GM SUV, plenty of GM products before that), like the other 2 "domestics". That being said, and at the risk of turning this into a political thread, Cut-Throat appears to be the only one that does not understand bankruptcy. Unions have not been a benefit for the US auto industry.

GM makes some decent products for sure, but if the point of the thread is to compare price/value to the "G", there is no comparison. IMHO, Hyundai is where Toyota was with the LS400 when it was introduced.

They're hungry and it shows. I'm not sure failing to separate the identity of the Genesis/Uquus ala Toyota/Lexus or Nissan/Infinity was the right choice, but at least they got minimal badging right.

the cts is way too small to compare with the genesis. STS makes more sense, that was the Genesis runner up for me.

The Government made a Profit with GM. Turn off Fox News and Educate yourself. The GOP has been busting Unions and destroying the middle Class for 30 years. If it wasn't for the Bailout GM would be gone, The bondholders would have gotten nothing and Hundreds of thousands of Jobs would have been lost. Do you know who Herbert Hoover was?

I suppose you liked the Economy better in 2008- 2009 ?

the first sentence you wrote was either a lie or a dissemination of uneducated non factual info. and you're telling people to educate themselves? that's some funny stuff right there. :) but so typical of the FOX news bashers.............lies and misinformation.

i'm glad the GOP is busting up the unions. even union members themselves are sick and tired of seeing their dues go to politicians they don't approve of.

at one time the unions served a needed purpose, now, too many unions are replete w/ corruption and politics and do more harm than good IMO.
take the public unions for example; they're bankrupting cities and states left and right. CA is a great example of that.

Good one. I too experience from time to time the self hating folks who disdain domestic US company products.

As for Acura.. Hyundai was smart to copy the Ford modular engine program (3.8 and 4.6-5.0) which use chains instead of cheaper to make and get higher gas mileage timing belts all Honda/Acura. And there are other superior features with that USA designed Ford engine program. Acura folks have to put some serous money for maintaining/changing belts, with what is a design flaw on expensive cars.

Anyway, love my 5.0 Genny. And hainv the Caddy to compare is a good thing. I drove and looked at CTS and ATS.. Genny is better all the way around. Although the ATS is amazing with the 3.6 (also chain timing system).

I saw the new Cadillac CTS Vsport at the New York auto show this year. It was at the 2008 Auto Show that I first saw the upcoming Genesis and that filled my heart with lust which led to my purchase of my 2009 Genesis. That same emotion once again was present when I saw the new Vsport. I plan to purchase one next Spring to take its place in tghe garage alongside my Genesis.

I might mention that prior to my Genesis I did own eight Cadillacs.

With my last GM vechicle having so many issue sand GM NOT standing behind their products or dealers, I'll pass on the CTS or ANY GM product. ;)

If they are still using the Aussie V6, I'd stear way clear of it.

Ahh, but the V-Sport is not a CTS-V. Two totally different cars.

The new CTS is now sized like the 5-Series and E-Class, which the Genesis competes with so it's a valid comparison. The Genesis has appeal(at least to me anyway) because it is a large car that has a footprint not much larger than the Infiniti M, 5 Series, etc. Hyundai really does a good job with their packaging. I hope that continues for the 2G. BTW, the STS hasn't been made for years.

Sadly, GM's corporate 3.6L is the same across all of its divisions. Some don't have GDI(like yours) and others do.

One would think that with all the issues thet they have with the 3.6L, they would have fixed it by now.

There is no such thing as a v-sport. The cts-v comes in either sedan, wagon, or coupe. Same thing just different body styles and all with basically identical performance numbers

Ummm, no. The twin turbo V6 V Sport will be the "entry" hot rod. The V8 CTS V will come later. BIG difference between it and the "base" cars.

From what I've read on Cadillac forums, the current SIGMA chassis CTS (2012 models) V models will continue in production unchanged for at least the 2014 model year. These are the V8 6.2L cars.

The 420 hp 3.6L V6 TT engine is the new CTS Vsport which is top of the line for the all new CTS built on the ALPHA chasis (as in the ATS).
