  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if an oil filter for a 2009 Genesis 4.6 will fit a 2014 Equus?

I have 5 filters left over from my 4.6 Genesis and want to know if I should consider using them for my Equus oil changes or not. From what I can see, my 2009 Genesis used oil filter 26320-3C100.

It appears that the Equus uses part number 263203C30A according to this website http://www.hyundaioemparts.com/oe-hyundai/263203c30a

But this website states that the 2010 Genesis uses the same as Equus and I thought the 2010 and 2009 Genesis 4.6 used the same filter... So There is conflicting information on the interwebs.

Before I do anything I'm going to contact Hyundai to make sure the parts are correct but figured I would reach out to you guys first to get a more basic understanding of the oil filters and part numbers.

Hyundai has made a mess of the oil filter situation in past models, causing a lot of confusion. At one point, they retroactively changed the OEM filter for 4.6 V8.

I would say if you have the Mahle filter with the white end caps, you "may" be able to use it on the 2014 Equus. If your old filter has the white end caps, take it to the dealer parts department and compare it to one they recommend.

If instead, you have the filter with hard black plastic end caps, with the green non-removable O-rings inside on both ends, I would not use that on a 2014 because I don't think it is compatible.

per rock auto, purolator v5848 will fit both engines, so i assume you can use what you have.
I would not go by that. The later Hyundai OEM filter (with soft white end-caps) is backward compatible, but the 2009 filter (with hard plastic black end-caps) may not be forward compatible to all Hyundai 4.6 engines. I explained that in my post above.
