  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Good morning All,

I just picked up a one owner 2014 Equus Ultimate with less than 50k miles on it. Pearl white with Ivory interior. I am a ASE certified automotive fleet manager by profession and I have admired the car along with the brand. Back in the 80's when the brand first came to the states, we use to laugh at them because of their quality concerns. But I have watched them over the years on how they were committed to becoming a respected brand. Much more than Jaguar, Maserati and others. I look forward to the ownership experience as I purchased a 7 year extended warranty on the vehicle.

Best wishes with your 2014. My concerns would be missing out on a lot of the newer technology, especially the safety-related innovations.

Forgetting all that for a moment, your 3G Bluelink service will soon be dead. Have you looked into whether your Nav software is still updatable?

Then there’s the concerns about your air suspension. Is that covered under your new warranty? Also, check whether cruise control problems are warranty covered.

Just some things to consider. Good luck!

Welcome aboard! And thank you for signing up. Congratulations on your new Equus! What did the Equus replace for you? I have been following the brand since the 80s as well. Boy, the Hyundai Excel was something. :p Not exactly a great car - but can be had at a great price. That and the Yugo were the cheapies back then. The Hyundai Scoupe was a pretty weird attempt at a sporty car.

I really started taking notice of Hyundai when the XG300 came out. It was a pretty decent luxury car - especially when considering the price. Power was decent, it was comfortable, fairly luxurious inside, smooth... The Sonata kept getting nicer and nicer... Then came the Genesis Sedan and the Coupe. At that point, anyone reasonable saw some pretty good potential - and here we are...

Anyway, I'm glad you found us! Welcome to the community...

@PMCErnie I am aware of the 3G going away and the navigation I not to concern as we use are smartphone for those two applications. I wonder if the cell module from a 2016 can be plugged in as that would be 4G. For the air suspension and all the other tech items, that is why searched for a low mile Equus as you can better coverage on vehicles when they are under 50k miles. A reputable 7yr/100k platinum plan that is excludes only certain named items is the best way to go. Here in Florida you can't negotiate the price of an extended warranty as they are mechanical breakdown insurance, which are regulated by the state. As a note I use to sale them back when I worked in the dealerships. So I paid $4800.00 for my policy which works out to $685.72 a year. As a fleet manager, I budget $1500.00 @ year for my paid off out of warranty vehicles. With some items on the Equus, there is a possibility that one item could blow my $1500 budget, that is the reason I have the warranty.

@sfsv Welcome and congrats!

I’m sure you have planned this well, but are you saying that in, say 2029, your warranty will cover things like a radio head unit, air suspension and cruise control repairs? Will you really want to be driving a vehicle with 2014 technology in 2029? Believe me when I tell you that at minimum you’ll greatly miss features like Lane Following Assist, not to mention a better backup camera than you have now in 2029.

The Equus is a brilliant choice - congrats on the purchase and happy motoring!
Thanks, I am getting some cosmetics taken care of first, curb rash on the wheels, repairing the leather dash, and some interior touch-ups.

Good afternoon All,

I am aware that the Equus enthusiasts community is small with only 7,127 of the 2014-2016 generation vehicles being sold here in the United States. I wonder if there are any current or former Equus trained technicians on this forum to share their technical knowledge and expertise. It would be helpful for all.

Good morning,

Does your Bluelink still work? If it does, which provider are you using and what generation service is it?
I've never used Bluelink.

I have moved this discussion to the Equus forum. :)
