  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello,
I just purchased a 2014 Genesis 5.0. I am trying to figure out if it is an R-spec or not. Everything I have found from the VIN number through Auto Check says that it is a R-spec and I can not find anything that says the Hyundai even made the base 5.0 in 2013 or 2014, only the R-spec for 2013 and 2014 from what I could find. When I bought it, the emblems for 5.0 and/or R-spec had been removed. It is fully loaded with every feature I could find including the 19 inch alloy rims that all the R-specs have. Any help or clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance!!

Welcome:welcome:

To post a short answer: The non R Spec 5.0 sedan was only produced in 2012, but was discontinued after 2012. Your car is an R Spec.

Thank you Scottdk!

Does it have the Floor Mats that say R-Spec?

:( yes, we're here. And it's around -9 right now. We can't schedule any warm weather travel this winter due to the sale of our home (downsizing) and two European trips we're taking later this year. Enjoy your time in the Bahamas.

ok, to answer a few your questions. It did not come with floor mats at all. As far as the youtube Darek posted, it wont do that. After following up on some of Darek's post he had to put a remote to completely stop wheel spin and do what he is doing in the video. It will however do spin the tires pretty much all the way through first gear before the RPM's drop to the tire spin. I believe it stays on the gas longer than my 335i did. As far as the ride goes, it' not as stiff as my 335i m-sport package was but there is very little sway while cornering.

You know...you can do the same thing (disable ESC) by pulling out the fuse...wait ~5sec....press ESC button, wait 5sec......put the fuse back in, done.

btw. 2 weeks ago, I test drove 335i sport package, I liked it. Not as much as a 540, but it was fun to drive :)

Do I have to do that ever time I start it or will I only have to do it once?

Yeah the 335 was a great car but really small car and I was spending about 1500.00 every few months with just 68,000 miles. Then last month I started to get a shake in the front at about 80mph, my Mechanic told me that I needed to have front bushings, arms, tie rods and an alignment to fix it, which meant another 1600.00. It was just getting ridiculous and just felt it wasn't dependable. My car is always the one we drive primarily, so my wife pointed me to the Genesis. Her VP and CIO both have them and both traded their BMW 535 and 550 for. I am very happy with it and shifts so much better than my 335 did.

Unfortunately, you'd have to do that every time you start the car.

I see, you had e90 series. I test drove f30 (yep, you mechanic was right...ask me how I know - been driving e39's for almost 12 years and DSC was always off ;)

:welcome: aboard...

If you would like to get rid of (any vestiges) sway while cornering, you can try this mod:

If you would like to do the ESC remote disable so you can do any time you like, you can find it here:

^ this!

and there is another thing - a chrome moldings at the bottom of the doors. I believe it was was "reserved" for an Rspec only. Non Rspec's has them painted in body color. Correct me if I'm wrong.
