  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2014 Genesis vs. the competition

Other than the cool hawkeye headlights (which are stolen from the 5-series and Azera), and interiors, which they do well, I don't see anything here that is appealing from the outside. Again, another manufacturer adding unnecessary lines and curves and cuts for the sake of calling it "modern".

No thanks.

No one buys a Genesis because it is the best car. They buy it because it is similar to cars that cost $20000 more. They don't have to make a car that beats the 5 series, Audi, or Mercedes, they just have to keep making cars in the same class at this price range.

Man, I don't want to ever hear anyone accuse Hyundai of copying the designs of other manufacturers again. This Infiniti looks almost dead on the 3/5-series from the side at first glance.

I'm also not digging this new trend of enormous grills either. The new IS has that huge pinched face grill, the HCD-14's is too big imo, and now the G is jumping on that band wagon it seems. I think even the new Audis are going in that direction. Don't like at all.

I kind of like the new infinity look! meaner look! Also i'm liking the new mercedes benz aswell! but overall i'm just glad i have my genny :)

They don't need to build a good $60,000 car (I guess the Equus would be that anyway)-------------they need to build a better, and better, and better $40,000 car.

Agreed - but the Genesis needs to keep improving if Hyundai wants to (1) increase sales and (2) sell at a higher pricepoint.

It doesn't have to have the best handling or the most luxurious interior in the midsize segment, but it needs to competitive (Hyundai seems intent on fixing those areas w/ the new Genesis).

Add a more striking sheetmetal (and AWD) at a still lower pricepoint - it should be a recipe for increased success.

The Genesis gets dinged for looking like BMW and rightfully so due to its greenhouse w/ the Hofmeister kink, but just about every automaker has a model (or 2 or 3) which look BMW-esque in that regard.

Both the Lexus GS and LS have a greenhouse w/ the Hofmeister kink.

Of the Japanese makes, Infiniti was the 1st to use a rendition of the kink.

Honda/Acura has gone on a kink-binge when it comes to its recent designs (i.e. - RLX) - that's why the Accord - w/ it's taillights and kinked greenhouse looks so much like the Genesis from the rear 3-quarters view.
