  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Ok, I think i saw this as a comment in another lighting thread but since there are so many for the 2nd gen, I figured I'd start this one to give you guys a heads up. Pilot brand LEDs work without hyperflash and without resistors. I have only been using them for 4 days but I have had zero problems with them. I happened to buy the 1157 bulbs which are fully compatible with our sockets. The bulbs are a little squatter than the stock ones. Their are 3 LEDs on the top and a double row around the sides. Mine are blue but nonetheless, they're excellent!

Any pictures?

Yes! Those are the ones.
Pictures of the lights on my car or of the bulbs? J Dixon posted the product image. I will try to post pictures tomorrow. I work nights so I'll be free tomorrow.

Here's a few pictures. It was morning so there was a lot of glare. The lights are much brighter than they appear here but also a slightly deeper blue.

I really do not like the deep blue DRL look, however I do not hate it either. However, I think it would be illegal for me to use that color in my state due to imitating law enforcement.

They are available in white or red also.
I'm just used to running blue lights in some fashion on all of my cars for the last 20 years or so.

It's not for everyone and is definitely illegal in many places. I've never been harassed about them.

Ok, I think i saw this as a comment
I also started off with Pilot LEDs for the DRLs. After 5000 miles started having problems with hyperflashing - seems the heat makes the LEDs fall off. Another poster stated the same. I ended up replacing them with Sirius CKs which were $20 for 2. They are MUCH deeper and brighter than the Pilots - and considerably more well built. We'll see how long they last - they have a 1 year guarantee.

You are spot on, unfortunately. I have just started getting intermittent hyperflashing... 1 out of every 30 or so signals. Also, started getting some flickering when set to auto for DRLs. I think I'll try the Sirius.

Are these still working well for you? I'm about to order a pair

still good!!
would you mind posting the link to the white bulbs you bought? also I noticed the RLK series had a built in resistor to avoid hyper-flashing? did you have any hyper-flashing issues without the resistors on the CK series?

I installed these last week and all I got was hyper flash. Had to go back to regular bulbs.

Wonder why you're having problems -
edit: I did buy them off the sirius website - not amazon, though I doubt that's the problem
edit: I do remember that mine hyperflashed for a few minutes then I guess the ECM "learned" them and I havent had a problem since.

I took mine to the dealer today. They said they found a TSB to replace the driver's side harness and socket, and threw in a new bulb. I just put in one of the Sirius Amber bulbs linked above here, and it looks great... Didn't bring to dealer... so only using one on passenger side at the moment, but I'm sure the driver's should work fine now.

Wait till tomorrow -- I looked at the TSBs to see what else I could get done and I have 2 more jobs for them -- new head unit and fixing the sunroof rattle. FWIW, I could not actually find the bulb TSB online anyplace.... but I'll get a copy when I go down there to pick it up.
