  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I had a horrible service experience at my local Hyundai shop Saturday and long story short, I think that even though they claim on paper that tires were rotated, I don't think they did. Reason I say that is today i noticed that the right rear passenger tire/wheel that I have a curb rash on is still in the same location. I would have thought with a full tire rotation, the tire would be mounted on another location on the car..am I correct in thinking something is up and that maybe they never rotated them?

Sounds like they forgot. I'd go back and point out the rim and ask for an explanation.

That's a common occurrence, not sure if they forget or just is trying to pull a fast one. This is not just a Hyundai thing, it happens at other car dealers too, a friend always put a mark on the tires when she take her car for service, and 2 weeks ago it happened, her Nissan dealer, she was charge for tire rotation and the rotation was not done, she called them and complained, and they apologized and told her to bring the car in so they can do it. A lot of these service dept. are just plain shady.

It depends. I'd check the tread depth on the tires comparing the front to the back. It's my understanding the rear tires wear more quickly. So it would make sense to move the tires with more tread to the rear. If that's where they are, they are probably in the right place.

not sure if this is correct but my dealer told me when I got my car that you rotate the fronts to the rear same side and cross the rears to the front. So front left to rear left and rear left to front right. reverse on the other side. This is how I have been rotating mine with no issues.

From the manual:

It happened to me three times already that they forgot to do it and I paid for it. I always mark my wheels and I make sure that they don't know they are marked so I can put them to test every time I rotate wheels.

I can tell you that I have been rotation my tired front to rear and rear to front every 5k miles and this is how my tires looked like with about 28k miles on them (no cupping, no uneven wear, no noise and keep psi at 34-36 all year round:

I'm at almost 30K miles on these tires so I decided to not battle the dealer again and waste my day with them so I'm researching new tires and plan to get new ones before the holidays.

I'm on a tight budget so I'm looking at the OEM Nexen N5000 right now. Local dealer has a heck of a deal on a set of 4 and will fill with Nitrogen for free (my current tires uses nitro and I've been pleasantly surprised how well they maintain steady pressures).

I come here often for advise and am able to find it reading these posts. I thank all of you. I have a G70 3TT Sport with Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 3+'s on it. I know that the tires are staggered. Can they be rotated (side to side?), and if so, in what fashion.

Thanks.

ps. I love this friggin car. Test drove the gv80 the other day for the heck of it. Liked it a lot, but I couldn't wait to get back in MY car!

Yes, side to side. Not sure by what you mean "what fashion". Depending on the weather , just a plain old sweat shirt or T shirt. No need for designer clothes. The wheels only will fit one way.

LOL. Thanks. "Side to side" answers the "what fashion question," and assume that it will be in sweat pants and a pink floyd t-shirt. I am aware that the wheels only go on one way but have read mixed reviews on the rotation.

Had a dealership swap back to front on one side accidentally, which caused an enormous amount of damage to the caliper and the wheel when they tried to drive the car!

Long story. But ended up with new wheels and calipers.

Thanks again.

I always mark the tires with the new location for rotation. If the dealer properly washes the car, I mark the inside sidewall as well.
