  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I have a 2015 Genesis 3.8 sedan that has the driver's side rear taillight (mounted on the trunk lid) out. The red LEDs are out but the yellow turn signal LEDs still work. I have taken this taillight and plugged it into the passenger side socket...all LEDs work fine. I have also plugged my good tailight (from the passenger side) into the driver side socket...no working red LEDs. So it's obvious a fuse or wiring issue. I have checked all fuses that I could locate...no bad fuse found. Has anyone had this same issue?

I had a similar issue with all the lights in the combination lamp out and also the camera getting intermittent. I noticed that the lights and camera would go in and out as the trunk lid was raised and lowered. Checked the wire harness between the trunk and lid and found it was pinching and causing the wires to break internally. Dealership was of no help and it would have taken weeks for them to fix as it is a single run from the engine bay to the trunk. I ended up finding the broken wires and splicing them together myself in about an hour. I then wrapped all of them in tape and split loom before doing my best to tie up so they don't get pinched anymore. I do IT for car dealers and the techs at Mercedes and BMW pointed me in the right direction as it is common on some of those models.

Thanks, Abiathar! I'll check this out and post my results.

This is a very late reply but I, too, found that my wiring was pinched as well. I couldn't get to it but the dealer did. All fixed. Thanks for your post.

Your dealer doesn't sound like he is aware of the problem.
It's well known on this forum at least.
There should be a sticky posted on the page for all the people that have had this problem.
Should be a re-call.

I have a similar issue with the turn signal and running light not working. I found this elsewhere on the forum and it looks applicable but haven't tried the repair yet. I asked the dealer, prior to finding this, and they said they probably had to replace the light assembly, which would not solve this problem.

TSB for 15-16 Genesis
Repaired it this evening.
Three broken wires, and the insulation on the camera cable was damaged in two places. tempImageQ2BPu1.webp

Good job! you caught it before the optical cable was severed. Saved you some money.
