  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Before I get yelled at😁, I did search around for this, but couldn't quite find a match . I've got 20k miles on the vehicle. It seems like it has slowly been losing power over time. I know that will happen eventually, but it's only 20k miles, and quite a significant reduction it feels. Any ideas?

Thanks!

At 62K miles and I have not seen any reduction in power that's not directly tied too temperature (too hot=less power, cooler=more power).

Are you using regular or premium gas? If using regular, try Chevron or Shell premium for little while.

A lot of variables could be in play here. I'm at about 16k miles and no loss in power whatsoever. It could be the gas your using.

I do use premium. I'll try shell or chevron for a while. I realized it because I have a loaner that is so much quicker. I am getting my sunroof replaced (for the 2nd time). For the K&N's, how often do you clean them? Do you think driving in sport mode or using the manual shift could have a negative effect? I figure its probably harder on the transmission.

What brand are you using? Do you change brands periodically? Are you putting any additive in it?

After every oil change, I add a bottle of Techron Concentrate Plus Complete Fuel System Cleaner to the fuel. This is the branded version of the Hyundai cleaner mentioned in the Maintenance pages.

My suggestions- First make sure both air filters are clean ( don't forget the little one above the radiator) don't over oil the K&N or you will have problems; (actually a good clean regular filter will be sufficient); take out at least one magnet on the main air box flap, drop the 2nd cats and install straight pipe match up( doesn't interfere with emissions and easy to do). Then run it hard! especially at upper rpm ranges. Computer will slightly modify within its parameters and give a little more performance. Especially noticeable if you always drive on ECO. Definitely use premium Top Tier 93 oct when ever possible.

What is this filter above the radiator? I see nothing mentioned in the manual.

I think yall are talking about 1st gen vs 2nd gen 5.0. So you put K&Ns in it? Maybe pull the intake and make sure the throttle body is not oiled or gunked up.

If you go searching this forum there have been people with collapsed fuel lines that caused power starvation.

Look in owner's manual under "Chamber air filter" It filters the air from the ram ducts over the radiator.

No matches in the Owner's Manual.
