  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I've searched this topic with no luck. If someone has a link or firsthand experience doing this job I would love to hear about the difficulty level. I would potentially be doing this job myself with the vehicle on a set of front tire ramps. I'm curious to know if I'm going to get the accessibility I'll need while lying on my back, also this is a Canadian model with AWD and that might restrict access more so. My car is broken down in a parking lot and I'm trying to decide if I should tow it home or tow it to a mechanic.

I know that for the 3.8 /w AWD it is pretty difficult. A motor mount and the right side exhaust has to come off to get to it. That said, it may be easier with the 5.0.

Thanks for the info. If it's the same for the 5.0 I'll probably take it to a shop, if I had a hoist I'd give it a go no problem.

Just checking... 100% certain it's the starter? There's quite a few things between the battery and the starter that could go wrong.

Hard to say if the exhaust has to be removed. It just may. Looks accessible in this shot but then again.. the driveshaft, diff and motor mount's been removed.

Thanks, that's a great picture. It definitely won't be easy. I think I'll let a shop handle this one

Yeah, the exhaust doesn't have to come out on the RWD, so if you remove the drive shaft instead on the AWD, the exhaust can probably say connected.

I agree that the the drive shaft might be easier than fighting with the 9 year old exhaust hardware
