  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Having issues when starting car. When I start the car in the morning after it sitting all night I have no issue, it seems to be after I park and return to leave. It tends to happen after ive pumped gas but not exclusively. It happens when I turn car off for 10 to 15 minutes. The car will turn over for about 10 seconds and it will start, but every light on dash comes on and idles rough. 'Ive never driven it when this happens I just turn it off and back on and it fires up no problem no lights on dash. This has been going on for a while but it was few and far between. It's starting to be more frequent and I'm trying to video this happening. I took it to the dealer the first time it happend and of course it wouldn't occur for them. I love this car but man everything is so expensive and I can't afford to just throw money at it. I had to replace the amp for the sound system in the first the months of owning it. I bought it in 2018 with 27k miles, unfortunately the warranty had run out based on time and it cost me $1940 to replace which was devastating and huge disappointment. Has this happened to anybody else? If I can catch it on video I will post it here. Planning on taking it in this morning in hopes of it happening for the mechanics at dealer. 🤞

My first thought was fuel pump but that's really a wild guess. If you want to save money try finding an independent shop instead of the dealer. The dealer is pretty much the most expensive path you can take for a repair.

I'm hoping it's something covered by warranty or maybe a recall. If not I have some options. I know the dealership will hit me in the head

Make sure the battery terminals are very tight and that you can't lift off the positive terminal when the box is unmounted from the body.

After that engine starts, the alternator won't make any power for 20-30 seconds or even longer if the engine needs to conserve power to run, or if the startup process is being hampered by insufficient electricity. If the PCM is receiving insufficient voltage to operate, you will experience a rough idle condition that may set a variety of pending codes. Unfortunately, Hyundai did not include codes for "undervoltage" in any of their systems (but they will report overvoltage, surprisingly).

I paid $4k for an extended warranty, which has paid out more than $13k on the car so far.
