  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My first oil change. I only ever use premium gas in all my cars, and I only use synthetic oil. Anyone else use full synthetic? If so, what brand. Does the dealer offer full synthetic? I use Royal Purple on my Avalon, but I don't want to just blindly throw it in this engine just because it worked in my Toyota.

Genesis actually uses dino oil. Dealers may offer semi-syn or full-syn optionally. Royal Purple won't hurt it.

I run RLI HDMO pretty much exclusively in my cars. It has significantly better ethanol contamination performance than RP.

I use full synthetic 5w-30 Valvoline High mileage oil. I use the same 5w-30 Valvoline oil in my 2006 Escalade also because it is GM Dexos rated oil which is very good for cleaning an engine. Dexos rated oils also benefits the Hyundai engine as well, plus the high mileage oil has seal conditioners and more detergents that help prevents sticking piston rings. My 2006 Cadillac has over 200k miles and do not smoke so the Valvoline oil is doing the job well, hopefully the same will be said of my Hyundai engine later on.

Your dealer can use whatever brand he wants. Mine uses Mobil 1 for Genesis. Ask your dealer what they offer, most will have a synthetic.

The 5.0 can use premium with some benefits, not wasted like on most cars today.
