  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hey you guys! I have a 2015 Gennie 3.8 and my (17 speaker) amp has blown out. I’m sure a few of you guys have heard that this is an issue but has anyone came across anything cheaper than what Hyundai is trying to get me to pay? It’s $1800 and up plus labor! ARGH! I Love my car, but damn.

Thank you! I saw this one and was about to purchase then ran across the guy that repairs them for $549. I contacted them and it’s a go with a year warranty! I’ve already pulled my amp out and ready to send. Crosses fingers....he has great reviews. Thanks again!

Good luck with that. Let us know how it turns out.

I am curious to what component fails on the amp. I bet it is a cheap IC chip or relay that fails. I would inspect my amp if it ever fails out of warranty to see what part has failed.

I had to fix my old Bose amp in a my 2004 Infiniti FX45 due to a failed relay that was a common weak point in the amp. I just needed to buy the part online(about $2) and soldier it to the board after removing the old part. The amp worked again for a few years until I traded the car.

My old post in the Infiniti FX forums in post#16 about the fix

I inspected with a multimeter. Most parts were good on the board. I just dont have the time or patience. I tried looking for the board and didnt have any luck. Was wondering too if we could go straight through lexicon!

Does anyone know if this Amp is the same for the 14 speaker Lexicon ? is there a history of failure on 2016 model year too & does it affect 14 speaker units too?

I'm not sure. That's where alot of my confusion and frustration came in. It seems like they made a couple of different versions of the same amp.🤷🏽‍♀️🤔🤔🤔 I saw a 14 speaker amp that would fit mine but a different part number and one less connection mine has. I was told to just stick to my OEM number to be safe. I wouldnt chance it unless you know a car audio person. But I had the same questions....

There's another forum here. I'm not sure how to post it but go to search and type in amplifier. You should see it in the scroll. It may say something like "Need a new amp".

Very helpful to me. My money on the failure would be on the Pulse brand transformer or one of the transistors attached to the heat sink cover by thermal paste.

What were the bad parts or possible bad parts?

I thought that I saw a Repair Service for those as well...
I have a 2016 with the same problem. If as many people contact Hyundai is possible they may recall it. Their phone number 844-340-9741. If not I'd like to see about starting a class action lawsuit. Cuz that amp being bad shuts the radio the phone GPS. Lexicon service center which is United Radio. Doesn't fix them anymore. Because of the issues and they weren't built properly to carry the 17 speakers.

Hey guys! I used these guys on eBay to get amp fixed. It was a great experience and they fixed and sent it back within 5 biz days or less( even tho the post says about a month. I asked and they explained why they posted it that way). I (my dad) reinstalled my amp this morning and it works! They said it was defective and shouldn’t have any more issues.
