  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Having read about the nanny ECS on generation 1 Genny's I saw in my manual that when the ECS button is pressed for a short period (State 1), the engine nanny (traction control) does not operate and if the button is pressed for more than 3 seconds (State 2), neither the engine control nor brake control functions operate. Ref: Owners Manual page 5-39. Is this an improvement over Gen 1 or the same and something is still limiting power to rear wheels?

State 2 also disables stability control, in addition to engine and traction control like you mentioned. Can't tell you if it's any better in my gen 2, my 2012 gen 1 did donuts just fine in state 2. Seems like that would require pretty much everything to be off, no?

Only did that once in my gen 1 (on wet pavement) and got no snow this year to try it in my 2015 AWD model. It should be able to do donuts in sport mode since 80% goes to the rears. I'm unwilling to try even in rain as I don't want to abuse the car, even though it'd probably be fine. I am hard enough on transmissions as-is.

Thanks, from the way the manual reads, it sounds like the nanny is totally unplugged but didn't know if some other system or sub-system, is still active. Haven't tried a burnout in state 2 with sport mode active but may have to if I can find the right location.

I did the complete disable on several occasions in the snow to have a little more fun than the car normally allows. Even though it says it shuts everything down it still takes over when things get pretty bad. I was able to drift and swing the rear around pretty good but at some point the seat belt tightens up and she takes over. I wish it let it get quite a bit more out of hand so to say because it never got serious enough for me so say to myself "phew, good thing Genny was looking out for me" No you cannot go donut crazy.

Just a heads up, when disabled, you will get a message telling you something about the parameters are not met if you try to use the cruise control, basically it gets shut off.
