  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Does anyone know if the HVAC drain tube is supposed to be “pinched” at the discharge end under the body? I live in Houston and the AC runs constantly. When I park the car I see very little condensate on the ground in the area of the drain tube. I question this because I seem to be getting a very musty smell when I first start the car which dissipates in a few minutes. I’m wondering if this Pinch or restriction is causing a buildup in the HVAC box creating some mold or mildew in the system.
Any thoughts or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

The tube is pinched to keep out bugs and prevent rattlesnakes from crawling inside. Water should drain easily but they do gunk up after a while. Sometimes it is just a matter of a small bottle brush or wire to clear it. There are ways to clean the system by spraying Lysol and such but I've not had to do that so no experience.

Thanks for the quick reply. I thought there had to be a reason why the tube end was shaped the way it is. I’ll try your suggestion and get a small bottle/tube brush and have a go. Thanks again!
