2015 Genesis 3.8 Left Me Stranded

Sorry to report my first major issue with my 2015 3.8 HTRAC. Came out to the parking lot after being inside a business for about 8 hours and my car wouldn’t start. Doesn’t seem to be battery. I’ve got lights, dashboard lights, seat motors, radio, and the mirrors folded out as I approached. But when I step on the brakes and push the start button it doesn’t crank at all. Tried twice to jump it but that didn’t work. Tried holding the key fob up to the start button as I pushed it and that didn’t work. Shifted it to neutral and tried again but nothing. No alerts in the dash like low voltage or key not detected. I gave up and called Roadside assistance. Being towed to dealership now. Should all be under warranty but very inconvenient. This happen to anyone else before? TIA

Sounds like the starter or a bad connection.

Did the dealership figure out what happened . There should not be a single point of failure for the things like the starter .
Its the worst thing when the car wont start .

It indeed was a bad starter. Tow and repairs all covered under warranty but highly inconvenient.

It started in the old days when one could hand crank start a car - that would never fail. My understanding is the military vehicles worldwide still use these.

We now have the most sophisticated auto remote starters and what not ... that fail.

A backup starter? What would you suggest?

do not think you could hand crank a M1 abrams turbine fast enough to start ditto for any diesel - hummv included

I think there may just be some frustration with the complexity of modern cars. With my ancient Crown Vic, if it didn't crank, you knew it was a dead battery most likely, or a dead alternator. If the starter screeched, you knew the solenoid was getting dodgy.

With the Genesis, several times I have pressed the start button and the car said it was running, but it wasn't. There's just a whole layer of software over the hardware and wiring that just wan't there 15 years ago.
