  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Hello all! Brand new member here. Just bought this car last week and when in reverse the camera is on but it doesn’t make the warning sounds the manual says it should and the lines on the screen do not bend when turning the car in reverse. Has anyone else had this issue and solved it? This is the most comfortable car I’ve ever owned. Drove Infinitis (I30, I35, and two Q45s) for 20 years until I switched to Lexus in 2015. I won’t be making that mistake again; ES350 started falling apart at 100k. Spent over 3 grand in the past 6 weeks and it still wasn’t right!

Does the car actually have parking assist sensors or the PG5 camera option? There should be 4x round dots in the back bumper if equipped.

Does it have the parking assist button near the gearshift?

Wow! Fast reply....thanks! I’ll have to look at the bumper for the 4 dots. There is no parking assist button near the gearshift

If you have a base model you may not have warning sounds on the back-up camera. Same thing with the “bendy” lines on the screen.

I have the moving lines but no beeps on backup - do have the left to right cross over warning behind though

Thanks for responding so quickly. I do have a base model and have spent hours trying to figure it out. Another member replied that he has the bendy lines but no warning sounds. Seems as tho there is not a lot of consistency with Genesis options, same cars have same options but the functionality is different.

They are consistent but there are three different models. If you compare a Base to a Base or Ultimate to Ultimate you will see they are the same. Best to indicate the model for accurate response

I think one of the owners who responded has a base model and said he has the bendy lines but no warning sounds as well. Perhaps misread his comments. I just bought this car last Saturday with 30k miles and it did not have so much as a single scratch anywhere on the exterior, it’s the exact Casablanca white color I wanted and I’m telling you the tan leather interior looks like it just rolled off the showroom floor, not crease and it even smelled new. So don’t think I don’t love the car, because I do. I also cannot figure out how to get the outside mirrors to tilt down when in reverse. They fold in just fine. I really wish they could have offered an option so when you get close to the car, the driver’s door opens. My crappy Lexus had that and I do miss that feature, don’t miss the car a bit. Thanks for your input.

Do you have a rear window power sunshade? If not, you have a base model.

If your rear camera gives you no warning beeps you likely don’t have that feature.

Does your backup camera show any backup lines at all? If so, what you see is probably what you get.

Put the mirror adjustment switch in the the left or right position for the mirrors to tilt. I believe that's how that works.👍

Yeah, you have to touch a button on the door to unlock the doors. Think of the exercise of your thumb that you get.

When you move the shift lever to the
R (Reverse) position, the side view
mirror(s) will rotate downwards to aid
with driving in reverse. The position
of the side view mirror switch (1)
determines whether or not the mirrors
will move:
Left/Right : When either the L (Left)
or R (Right) switch is
selected, both side view
mirrors will move.
Neutral : When neither switch is
selected, the side view mirrors
will not move.
The side view mirrors will automatically
revert to their original positions
if any of the following occur:
• The Engine Start/Stop button is
pressed to either the OFF position
or the ACC position.
• The shift lever is moved to any
position except R (Reverse).
• The remote control side view mirror
switch is not selected.

Thanks for your help. Yes, mine is a base model, no rear sun screen. I have lines on the camera but they are just the straight lines.

That’s all you get -straight lines. Now, be happy and enjoy your new car.
